If you want to be wired for sound without any wires, TDK's WR700 wireless headphones are a decent – if pricey – option

wireless operation; comfortable to wear; smart appearance; good quality sound

large transmitter; need for AAA batteries; don't exclude external sounds; no noise cancelling for travel use; expensive relative to sound quality

As with MP3 files, you need clever technology to get the sound quality back to the level that you could easily have started from

TDK's WR700 headphones utilise Kleer wireless and offer excellent sound quality

Excellent build quality and looks, instantaneous sync, Kleer wireless technology, excellent sound quality, up to four units pairs can use one receiver

Ears quickly become hot, receiver a little chunky for use with mobile phones, no active noise cancellation

TDK's WR700 headphones look good, are comfortable to wear and possess excellent sound quality.

TDK's WR700 is a solid wireless headphone option, with big bass and a high quality wireless streaming courtesy of Kleer. It isn't flawless, but it's a bargain for its $250 price.

Powerful audio performance with deep bass response at moderate volumes. Easy pairing, high-quality wireless audio via Kleer technology. Comfortable on-ear design. Good value for the price.

Distorts on deep bass tracks at maximum volume. Requires four AAA batteries for operation.

The range in quality for at-home wireless headphones is wide. At the lower end of the spectrum, you have options like the overpriced, underperforming Koss JR900 Wireless Headphones and toward the top, mind-blowing headphones like the $600 Editors'...

Thanks to the increasing prevalence of Bluetooth-compatible devices (such as iPads, iPhones, and nearly all other smartphones), wireless headphones are starting to proliferate like never before. However, the only problem with Bluetooth is that it takes...

Wireless headphones with Kleer technology; good sound quality, especially for wireless headphones; easy connection; compatible with all audio devices using a 3.5mm headphone port; adapter for AV receivers; cloth carrying case included.

Requires using the included receiver dongle, which is somewhat bulky; transmitter and headphones each require two pairs of AAA batteries; headphones could be slightly more comfortable.

Despite a few shortcomings, TDK's WR700 wireless headphones--which use Kleer wireless technology instead of Bluetooth--deliver good sound for a reasonable price.

TDK has chosen Kleer over Bluetooth and won with this ultra-clear set of headsets, but the WR700s aren't without their faults. Question is: do they warrant a $179 price tag?
