The Background
Mirror smooth ironing surface. Nice long, flexible cord
None so far

This iron was given to me as a gift, so I am not sure about the cost. I heard they can be expensive. I just started to use the iron on my latest quilting hobby. It is great. It presses nice, crisp seams, and has plenty of heat and steam.
Features (heat settings, steam settings), ease of use, nice smooth iron surface
Cord sometimes gets in the way

I was busy in the bathroom trying to kill a fly when my wife's shrike's, "Help, fire." I rush to her and find our Rowenta DM273 Rowenta Powerglide caught fire and out a penny sized hole in our ironing board cover. The cord at the base apparently blew...
Worked for a year or two
Can possibly kill you

I have used the Rowenta Powerglide iron and I found it to be light and easy to use. This iron has a super smooth surface and a very light touch. When using this iron, sometimes it feels like a feather because it is so light. I do ironing for different...
The pros are the lightness, the shut-off, the amazing surface, and the smooth gliding
There are no cons

Well, you get what you pay for. This iron is not a bad iron. It does get most of the wrinkles out of my clothes, it does have a steam feature that works quite well. It also has auto-shutoff (a must) and several heat settings and, well, looks attractive.
Inexpensive, stylish, many settings, auto shutoff, steam feature
Low-heat, ineffective for heavy use

I have had two Rowentas, the last one was the Powerglide. In both instances, the irons started to lose heat after a couple of years so that the "hot" setting now isn't hot at all. It also doesn't get hot enough to make steam. At first I would unplug it...
Nice weight and plate is very smooth
The cord gets in the way sometimes

Ep News Wire – 2007: An amazing anti-gravity device has finally been discovered! It allows a household iron to glide effortlessly over wrinkled fabric; smoothing it without actually touching it!! Could this technology be the result of a secret...
Incredibly smooth surface, easy iron operation, great features, safety
The self-clean button...maybe. That's it

We have owned our Rowenta Powerglide 2, model DM273, for about 18 months and it works flawlessly. What is especially highly performing is its stainless steel sole plate that is smooth as silk, does not collect dirt or starch, and makes ironing much...
Flawless performance, smooth gliding sole plate, does not pick up dirt or goo
None, this has been a perfect iron

18 month update: still running like new. No problems to report.
Ergo design, lots of heat, lots of steam. Reasonable price
Just a small one, no clip on the cord
Consumer review (shopping.com)
I bought this iron 3 years ago when my old reliable "cheap" iron died after 20 years of service. I was excited about the smoothness of the metal and the automatic turnoff feature, etc.
Looks nice...actually looks like it is a good product
Faulty product that stopped working after only 5 uses
