If you click down the LED controll wheel, the back light turns off. I own the Thunder K7 which is the model with the macro pad, and their is even a YouTube video by JayzTwoCents that he tells you this, the HighTachLEgion review is not as helpful.

Update from my previous review Turns out the two wheels have additional functions. Clicking the led wheel turns off the led. Clicking the volume wheel mutes the volume.
