A mechanical gaming keyboard focused on performance - but does anything set it apart?
Ultra-light actuation ; Good gaming performance ; Hot-swappable and customizable
Basic software ; No wrist rest ; No wireless option
As a thoroughbred gaming keyboard, the HyperX Alloy Rise is a competent performer that’s a joy to use for the most part. The compact layout puts all the important keys within reach, while HyperX’s Red Linear switches make for rapid strokes – although...

There are three new keyboards from HyperX at CES, and colour is the name of the game.

Hot-swappable switches, magnetic cases, and a great typing experience help, but don't completely offset the $200 price tag.
Excellent typing and gaming experience ; 8kHz polling for exceptional responsiveness ; Exceptional customization options ; Easy programmability
Expensive ; Not wireless ; NGENUITY software is lackluster
The HyperX Alloy Rise is customizable, well-built, and wired. It’s expensive but with its 8kHz polling rate, fast switches, and easy programmability, it offers solid performance for the money.

HyperX Aqua switches ; Durable ; Multiple RGB effects ; High quality ; Braided USB cable ; Game mode ; Reasonable price
Nothing worth to mention
The Alloy Origins Core RGB is a perfect keyboard for gamers who don’t need a numeric pad and wish to save space on the desk. Let’s be honest; gamers don’t need a numeric pad, so it’s perfect for all gamers. Since we can pick one of three key switches,...

HyperX's Alloy Origins mechanical gaming keyboard sports in-house switches, but what makes it great is a fine-tuning of the basics and excellent aesthetics.
Attractive, compact design ; Excellent RGB lighting ; Three-level rear height adjustment
No dedicated media controls or macro keys ; Shorter 1.8mm switch actuation (versus 2mm) feels like a gimmick ; NGenuity software could be more intuitive ; No USB pass-through ports ; A little expensive
HyperX’s $110 Alloy Origins is a well-designed, colorful and compact mechanical keyboard that’s good for those who want a quality product but also want to skip the fuss and just get down to gaming.

A taste of HyperX's new Aqua switches.
Excellent build ; Stylish unobnoxious design ; Smooth and fast key switch ; Detachable USB-C cable ; Bright and consistent lighting
Smooth finish on keycaps accentuate fingerprints and grime ; NGenuity needs to be in background for customisations to work ; Odd positioning of USB-C port ; Pricey

If premium features aren't what you're after, HyperX's Alloy Origins may be the nicest no-nonsense midrange mechanical keyboard around.
Solidly made chassis. Well-priced. Proprietary switches offer unique feel. Detachable USB-C cable.
No creature comforts, such as dedicated macro keys or USB pass-through ports.
Bottom Line: If premium features aren't what you're after, HyperX's Alloy Origins may be the nicest no-nonsense midrange mechanical keyboard around.
