The ultimate 'gamer cred' laptop
Solidly built ; Gorgeous screen ; Surprising battery life
Heavy ; Loud
The Acer Predator 15 is a solid performer, with strong cooling and phenomenal battery life for a gaming laptop.

"Why do all these gaming laptops look like sneakers?" That was the question my wife -- herself no stranger to gaming -- asked when I lifted the lid on the latest version of Acer's 15-inch Predator laptop. It may seem like an odd question for ask about...
A rare 15-inch gaming laptop with top-end Nvidia 980M graphics, and the extra cooling required to run high-end parts in a smaller body. Battery life is excellent for a gaming laptop.
Despite a few nice design touches, this is still a gaudy-looking gaming laptop. All those fans can get loud when running at maximum speed.
The Acer Predator 15 one of the fastest gaming laptops we've tested, and wisely adds extra cooling to handle high-end parts in a smaller 15-inch body.

Packing a GTX 1060 graphics card, the Acer Predator 15 (G9-593-72VT) delivers solid gaming performance along with decent battery life for a relatively modest price.
Fine gaming performance. Good battery life. Supports Nvidia's G-Sync technology.
Heavy and bulky. Underwhelming keyboard backlighting.
There's not much that's new with the Predator 15, but Acer has improved gaming performance on what was already an excellent laptop. There are snazzier models out there with more powerful components, better displays, and sleeker designs; for just $100...

The Acer Predator returns with a slimmed-down pricetag and a beefed-up chassis.
Relatively affordable ; Great all-around performance ; Superb keyboard and trackpad with great lighting.
Big and heavy for seemingly no reason. ; Slow SSD that uses SATA interface. ; Did we mention how big and heavy it is?
The closest systems to the Predator are the recently revamped Alienware 13 and the . Both systems are about $400 more expensive than the Predator 15, but have the exact same CPU and GPU, so performance should be similar.

Acer's Predator 15 (G9-591-74KN) offers a lot of what you want in a midrange gaming laptop: Top speed, graphics performance, and long battery life. But it all comes at a steep price.
Latest Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics card. 32GB of RAM. Excellent performance. Great graphics. Swappable fan module. Best-in-class battery life. 512GB SSD and 1TB HDD. Expandable memory. Many ports, including USB Type-C with...
Expensive. Heavy and bulky. Does not support Nvidia G-Sync.
Conclusions The Acer Predator 15 (G9-591-74KN) is an impressive machine, boasting a fast 6th-generation Intel Core processor, a top-notch graphics card, enough ports for all your needs (including USB-C with Thunderbolt 3), and best-in-class battery...

With the most powerful mobile graphics card in a smaller 15-inch body, this gaming system wisely adds extra fans.

Kaby Lake upgrade. Acer's gaming racer runs all current games smoothly on the Full HD display. The features are also appealing: IPS display, NVMe SSD, HDD, 16 GB RAM, and Thunderbolt 3.
matte IPS screen ; NVMe SSD ; G-Sync ; optical drive or additional fan
limited maintenance possibilities
The Acer Predator 15 G9-593-751X mainly represents a Kaby Lake upgrade. The Core-i7-7700HQ four-core processor offers only a slight performance advantage against the Skylake predecessor. The built-in hardware brings all the current titles to the screen...

Pascal upgrade. Acer now uses the latest Pascal GPUs from Nvidia for the current Predator 15. We also get some additional features that were missing with the previous models. The design of the bulky 15-inch gaming notebook is still a matter of taste...
optical drive or additional fan ; high performance ; 8 GB VRAM ; good IPS display with G-Sync ; modern ports ; always convenient temperatures ; decent input devices with illumination and macro keys ; handy tools ; VR-ready
limited maintenance ; slight GPU throttling extreme situations ; bulky and heavy case ; mediocre battery runtimes ; sound could be better (hardly any bass) ; questionable design elements ; long charging time
Acer's new Predator 15 G9-593 is a decent evolution of the two previous models – at least in terms of components. Sufficient performance is ensured by the new GeForce GTX 1070, the good IPS display finally supports G-Sync and the ports are up to date...
