Acer Switch 5 review: A bog standard convertible
Sharp screen ; Decent performance ; Reasonable connectivity
Low maximum brightness ; Bulky body ; Little different compared to other convertibles
A great value, but distinctly average, Windows 10 convertible.

Switch it up
Competitively priced ; Good performance ; Excellent for basic drawing
Cumbersome hinge ; Weak display brightness ; Weak speakers
Despite a few flaws, the Acer Switch 5 combines portability and performance in one sultry package, making it a budget-friendly alternative to a Surface Pro.

All in all, there are a number of positives to find in the Acer Switch 5. But as a £1,000+ device it doesn't quite astound, which leaves us leaning
Totally silent operation ; Great battery life ; Keyboard and stylus included ; Interesting one-handed stand adjustment ; USB 3 and Type-C
Screen brightness isn't quite there ; Anticipated to be expensive in some territories ; Design can't rival the Microsoft Surface Pro
The Acer Switch 5 is a largely successful progression of the series, with decent battery life, silent operation, ample power, plus other great features such as the one-handed stand adjustment and the fingerprint scanner being built into the power button.

Acer is gunning to unseat Microsoft's Surface with this helpfully hinged hybrid

A hands-on review with the Acer Switch 5. A new 2-in-1 Windows tablet to rival the Surface Pro 4 and probably the Surface Pro 5.
We certainly like the Switch 5 which is essentially an improved version of the Alpha 12. However, it’s the price that’s really the sticking point here so look for the Switch 3 if it’s out of your price range.

If you're reading KitGuru, chances are you're familiar with the Microsoft Surface Pro. While it was is this new Acer machine better than the iPad and Surface Pro?
Decent design.
IPS display is somewhat sub-par compared to rivals.

In the box Acer Switch 5's box there's an AC adaptor, the tablet and keyboard dock, which easily separate and then pair together, a battery and a stylus.

While not quite a match for the Surface Pro, Acer's newest 2-in-1 offers serious value for money
Entirely silent; Keyboard and stylus included; Generous spec for the price
Poor display performance; Average battery life
With a spec to rival the Surface Pro, and some accessories thrown in, the Switch 5 offers a decent 2-in-1 experience at a great price point. Unfortunately, woeful display performance and an average battery life hold it back from being a true challenger...

The Windows 10 tablet PCs do just enough to stand out from the crowd of Surface clones coming this year.
