This slim Pascal-powered gaming laptop is almost the full pacakge
Powerful performance ; Slim design ; Attractive 3K display ; RGB-backlit keyboard
Noisy fans ; Build quality issues ; Wide and long ; Rattling keyboard
Loud and proud, the noisy Aorus X5 V6 sounds off big time when you're pushing it to its limits. Put up with that, though, and you'll enjoy its powerful gaming chops, stellar display and vibrant, RGB-backlit gaming keyboard.

One beast of a machine, so long as you're near an outlet

Praiseworthy six cores. Gigabyte equipped the 2018 version of the Aorus X5 with a hexa-core CPU belonging to Intel's Coffee Lake series. The CPU is accompanied by a GeForce GTX 1070 and a 144 Hz display. Find out in our review whether the 15-inch...
certified for X-Rite Pantone ; superb performance ; RGB lighting ; useful tools ; Thunderbolt 3 ; 144 Hz panel ; NVMe SSD ; G-Sync
right fan rattles under pressure on certain parts of the case ; temperature- and noise development in 3D operation ; the CPU could make better use of the Turbo ; high power consumption ; backlight bleeding
The 2018 version of the Aorus X5 v8 is able to stand up to its rivals in most areas. Not only the rather robust metal case but also the connectivity, the input devices and the display were convincing. The 144 Hz IPS panel offers a perfect compromise...

4K vs. battery. Aorus has made several improvements since last year's model of the X5: 4K display, Thunderbolt 3 and a Kaby Lake CPU are only a few of the positive additions. Can the X5 v7 improve on its predecessor's rating (83%) or might it even...
good 4K display ; relatively slim ; high-performance hardware ; Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0 & miniDP ; fast card reader ; overclocking tool ; macro keys
high power consumption ; low battery runtimes ; mediocre Wi-Fi ; high temperatures in the WASD area
The Aorus X5 V7 is a good gaming package that has improved noticeably since its predecessor, the V6. The good 4K display, the many ports including Thunderbolt 3, the macro keys and Aorus tool for overclocking and quick changes of important settings are...

SLI and G-SYNC. Aorus may be less than a couple years old, but the manufacturer already has some of the thinnest gaming notebooks with the latest hardware and features in the market. Are the GTX 965M SLI GPUs and 2880 x 1620 resolution G-SYNC screen...
