The Asus G73SW is a high-end gaming laptop with a high-end price tag that still represents value for money.
Overall, the Asus G73SW offers good performance at a reasonable price. It isn't exactly svelte, but it isn't too much of a problem to carry around. Given the overall performance, that's not too big a burden at all. Asus's G73SW high-end gaming laptop...

At first glance the Asus G73SW desktop replacement laptop seems to get its inspiration from the F-117 Nighthawk stealth bomber. It's all angles, with a matte-black finish that looks both understated and killer at the same time.
Good value for its class ; Speedy on games, even when eye candy is added
Heavy and a little clunky ; Glossy screen is slightly distracting
Asus's G73SW high-end gaming laptop offers good game performance without breaking the bank.

Gaming elite. Asus is now offering its high-end 17-inch G73 noteb
Moderate system noise; Matt surfaces; Flawless workmanship; Low temperatures; High-quality display; Keyboard backlighting; Very good performance; Large touchpad; Fast hard drives; Good sound quality
Suboptimal port layout; Mediocre range of ports; Spongy keyboard; Bulky case; No Optimus
The cooling system is a complete success. The fans are unobtrusive.

With the dust having settled on Intel's staggered Sandy Bridge launch and the early chipset issues having been ironed out, we're finally starting to see PC makers come out with builds based on the Santa Clara chip maker's second generation Core...
Solid gaming performance ; All around multimedia powerhouse ; Eye catching design ; Excellent cooling ; USB 3.0
No ExpressCard slot ; Short battery life
A gaming notebook needs to exhibit certain qualities if it's to be taken seriously as a desktop replacement. Because of the limited upgrade path, especially in the GPU department, a mobile gaming PC needs to start off with a solid set of components,...

At home I have been using 3 other HP lap-tops, an Asrock desktop, and a tablet for my computing needs, since purchasing the premium ASUS G73JW machine, as I have no confidence in either the quality of the equipment, warranty, or service.
Good machine when functioning, for me 70 days in 1 year. RMA 3x G73JW. I hope 3rd time is a charm
I have not used the subject PC for more than about 70 days over the past year due to frustration of paying $1XX0 dollars for a non-functioning PC. This is the third time the machine is sent to be serviced since the initial service call in June. It took...

No word from ASUS, other than I cant turn off hyperthreads . I give it a 4 star because the BIOS can be fixed. If ASUS cannot fix ( or wont fix ) the bios, then I'd give it a 1 star because of the speedstep / turboboost / hyperthreads interaction
Has USB3 - too bad my external usb3 disk drive doesnt seem to go too much faster. Nice screen, but color appears to be a bit blue ( u wont notice till u do a color calibration )
there is no way to disable hyperthreads, speedstep, or turbo-boost. if you run low ( 800Mhz) or High ( 2.8Ghz ) you seem to be fine. But in the middle, you get very poor results. a video DVD editor used one cpu, and then only 25% of the time. I suspect...

The laptop comes pre-installed with Windows 7. I moved the Primary drive to secondary slot, and installed OSX Lion using tutorial found via Google. There was a forum section specifically for the G73SW. Following the step by step instructions I bought...

Recently discovered the headphone mini jack can do S/PDIF. Simply use a mini-TOSLINK connector and then hook toslink cable to your receiver. HDMI output
Extremely fast. Crisp image. Best sound I've heard out of laptop speakers ; 90FPS ultra settings in World of Warcraft(Cataclysm) ; Great with Visual Studio 2010. Compiles very quickly, but I imagine would be faster with pure SSD drives ; Smooth...
Heavy. But that's expected for a portable desktop replacement ; Recent recall on intel sandy bridge chipset, with reported 5% chance of IO port degradation over time. I haven't received any information from newegg or Asus unfortunately to know if they...
