Asus's new all-AMD gaming portable is an intriguing low-cost option

Very nice 240Hz screen ; Excellent battery life ; Solid build quality

Merely adequate gaming performance ; Slightly flakey AMD GPU management ; Probably not cheap enough

Asus has gone with all-AMD hardware for this reasonably priced gaming laptop. It mostly works, with both decent gaming performance and great battery life. But a similarly priced laptop with Nvidia's RTX 4060 GPU is still marginally the better choice.

We test the Asus TUF Gaming A16 FA608WV gaming laptop with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060. The Asus TUF Gaming A16's redesigned chassis has paid off, the laptop remains quite cool and comparatively quiet —unless the Turbo mode is selected.
