Light and powerful, Dell's Vostro range is intended to add a little style to the small business or the home office. The latest member of the family, the V131, is a Sandy Bridge Core i5 machine, one of a new generation of thin and light 13.3-inch...
Light, powerful and portable
Lack of optical drive
There are a lot of 13.3-inch laptops around, all with the same mix of Intel chips. Dell's given the Vostro V131 a distinctive look that makes it stand out from the usual crowd of matte and glossy black machines - but that's really it's only distinctive...

Dell's Vostro V131 is sedately handsome and a good performer, but has little else to distinguish it from the corporate-targeted ultraportable crowd. Unless, that is, you count eye-catching prices for various configurations, two USB 3.0 ports, and a...
The Vostro V131 is going to draw a lot of attention solely because of its low price. But it's no good grabbing someone's attention if you can't impress them. The V131 should have no problem doing that.

Ultrabooks may be hogging the limelight for now, but Dell's new Vostro 131 is a solid business ultraportable that costs considerably less. Julian Prokaza assesses its suitability for life on the move.

Dell are known the be the company that regularly brings out new laptops, and soon they will be releasing the Dell Vostro V131, which is both powerful and compact, and we've managed to get our hands on one for you guys!
Great design
Can’t perform large tasks, such as playing games, without lagging
The Dell Vostro V131 is a brilliant laptop for on the road, it’s lightweight, thin and the i3 processor can be upgraded to an i5 processor if you so wish.

Review Back in the old days, you knew where you were a Dell business laptop. Heave it out of the box and you'd be rewarded with a giant, hot-running thing with the aesthetic appeal of a pile-up on the M40.
If you tinker with the configuration options you can get a Dell Vostro V131 for an attractive price – the top-end somewhat slightly less so, but only because the silver finish and light weight invites unflattering comparison with Apple's MacBook...

Building on last year's Vostro V130, the Vostro V131 is an impressively sleek addition to Dell's Vostro laptop line. It's not as powerful or desirable as Apple's MacBook Air, but at £359 (ex. VAT) the Dell is over half the price. And as one of the...
The Vostro V131 is ideal for everyday office operations like document editing, presentations and e-mail, and also provides impressive collaboration options thanks to a full HD camera, digital array mics and support for Intel’s WiDi. USB 3.0 support...

Dell have taken the Dell Vostro V131 and fed it a load of steroids to give us the Dell Vostro V131.
It’s lightweight, includes a clear, crisp 13-inch screen and still manages to fit in a full-sized keyboard at a rather light 1.82kg
Just for a moan, the limited colours for the laptop certainly won’t please everyone. Unfortunately one enhancement we would have loved they haven't included and that is an optical drive
If you’re after a laptop that is fast, light, easy to use and can include all of Dell’s optional support then the Dell Vostro V131 is certainly a great laptop. It is probably THE business laptop in the Vostro range offering just about everything you need.

Don't let the Dell Vostro V131 laptop's low price fool you: it's state of the art
Nice input ergonomics, two USB 3.0 ports ; Inexpensive for an ultraportable
On the large side of the ultraportable class
You'll have a hard time finding a more affordable business ultraportable than the Dell Vostro V131, though its size and weight stretch the definition.
