Gaming laptops have gone the thin-and-light route before, but the new HP Omen Transcend 14 is going full steam ahead like few have before.
Beautiful slim and light design ; Exceptional OLED screen with vivid colour ; Decent performance for 1080p gaming ; Surprisingly quiet
Lacks serious gaming firepower ; Limited physical connectivity
The HP Omen Transcend 14 is a spectacularly slim and lightweight gaming laptop with a stunning OLED screen. The supremely portable form factor means that it has its limits in terms of gaming power but, for those looking for a honed balance of...

This laptop is portable, good-looking, and pretty affordable for an OLED machine
Sturdy, classy design ; Decent 1080p gaming performance ; Stunning OLED display
Atrocious battery life ; Few ports ; Power-limited GPU
The HP Omen Transcend 14 (2024) brings yet another device, alongside the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, into the mid-range OLED gaming laptop market. For such a good-looking, sturdy machine with a stellar display and reasonable gaming performance, the...

Light, but still a heavyweight?
Slender and light ; Solid performance ; Pretty Quiet ; Stunning display
Poor battery life ; Occasional overheating issues ; Mediocre connectivity options
Ultra-portable and still packing a punch, Omen's latest is a strong contender among the best 14-inch gaming laptops. Not the most eye-catching, it has an understated beauty instead. It does however suffer the usual gaming laptop pitfalls of poor...

It's super thin and light, is packing an OLED display, and even finds cooling for dedicated graphics - the HP OMEN Transcend 14 looks immense

At CES a few months ago, KitGuru got hands on, very briefly, with the HP Omen Transcend 14 laptop, s
The 14-inch form factor is compact and light
The memory is soldered and cannot be upgraded
Adding Nvidia RTX 4060 graphics to Intel Core Ultra 7 155H makes the HP Omen Transcend 14 highly desirable.

HP is entering the 14-inch gaming laptop market, and despite a few stumbles, the Omen Transcend 14 still manages to impress.
Beautiful OLED display Solid aluminum body Excellent port selection Great CPU performance
Slightly behind in gaming Exclusively uses USB-C for charging
“HP's Omen Transcend 14 is an impressive first step into premium gaming laptops.”

Despite its dazzling 240Hz OLED screen, HP's Omen Transcend 16, as tested, just isn't powerful enough to justify its elite price.

HP's Omen Transcend 14 is a thin-and-light gaming laptop ready for 1080p play with some appealing features, but machines above and below it on the price scale push faster speeds.

A transcendent display worsened by small flaws
Excellent productivity performance ; Sturdy and lightweight ; Stunning OLED color ; High brightness ; Clicky keyboard
Weak audio ; Awful trackpad ; FPS could be higher ; Subpar battery life
The HP Omen Transcend 14 is powerful with a stunning OLED display that strikes a solid middle ground between gaming and productivity, but those who want great gaming power could do better at this price.

Neither a featureless slab nor a carnival of lights, HP's latest 14-inch Omen has its own unique flair. It doesn't scrimp on substance, either.
Stylish design ; Nice OLED screen ; Good performance for its size and components
Can't force it to use the discrete GPU ; Keyboard backlight can make keys harder to differentiate ; Finish shows smudges
