An impressive AMD-powered Ultrabook
AMD Ryzen powered ; Large bright display ; USB 4.0 ports
Many BIOS upgrades were needed to fix issues ; A trackpad that isn’t intuitive ; No USB-A ports or HDMI out
The number of BIOS updates needed to fix this machine is a concern and may hint that this combination of power and chassis might have a potential flaw. When it isn’t getting hot, it’s great, but the cooling system might need a rethink.

Lenovo goes gunning for Apple and Dell with this high-end 16in notebook with a 4K display and discrete graphics
Premium design and build quality ; Powerful discrete graphics ; Sumptuous 4K OLED touchscreen
No Type-A USB or HDMI ports ; Poor battery life ; Awful webcam

The business laptop we've been waiting for
15-hour battery life ; Competition-beating performance ; Rival-surpassing graphics ; Attractive, yet minimalist design ; Military-tested durability
Mushy keyboard ; No USB Type-A, Ethernet ports ; Heavy
The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 is less than $2,000 and delivers competition-beating power, nearly 15 hours of battery life, and rival-surpassing graphics.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Z16 does everything it's meant to do -- style, performance, recycled material construction, and a red TrackPoint, too.
Uses recycled materials in construction ; Flawless performance ; The red keyboard nubbin is a revelation for photo editing ; Lightweight for travel, yet solid enough to replace a desktop
Occasionally slow to wake from sleep

Lenovo's ThinkPad Z16 sports a premium build, impressive performance, and above average battery life, but its webcam falls short.
Build quality feels ultra-premium ; Typically excellent ThinkPad keyboard ; Performed above expectations across all tasks
Webcam was a major disappointment ; Battery life wasn't anything special ; Touchpad haptics are awful out of the box
I opened by noting that the ThinkPad Z16 is very much a premium laptop, with the high expectations that designation carries. From the build quality, through the performance, to the battery life, I was consistently impressed. The only negative standout...
