Amazon Fire TV Stick (3rd Generation) review

Same old schtick?

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K review

Future-proofed video streamer supports 4K and advanced HDR and has Alexa voice control

Excellent 4K and HD visuals. Wide range of apps and 'channels' means access to a huge range of free, subscription and pay-to-view stuff to watch. Support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and Atmos means it seems pretty future-proofed. Voice control and the...

The sheer volume of stuff to watch makes it inevitably unwieldy. There's very little so far that actually plays back with Dolby Vision, HDR10+ or Atmos

With support for 4K, with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ and even Dolby Atmos audio, this inexpensive, voice controlled video streamer is one of the tech bargains of the year

Amazon Fire TV Stick review: super streamer now with added Alexa

It may be small in size but this streamer is kind of a big deal

Lots of content ; Alexa works pretty well ; Skills are useful in front of the TV

You really need to have Prime ; Needs a charger ; No 4K

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K review

Amazon's big stick is one of the most advanced and fully-featured video streamers out there

Supports all current HDR formats Dolby Atmos Impressive performance

Big and awkward for a stick Limited 4K HDR film selection

Simply the best video streamer after the Apple TV – and it's over £100 cheaper

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K review

Amazon's on fire

Supports 4K streaming ; Speedy user interface ; Fantastic variety of content ; Amazon Alexa voice assistance

UI biased towards Amazon ; Performance varies between apps

The inclusion of 4K support makes the new Fire TV Stick a brilliant option for all your streaming needs – although a lack of equity across different platforms means that Amazon hasn’t quite achieved perfection yet.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K review: Superbly priced Prime streamer

The value of the Fire Stick 4K can't be questioned compared to its rivals. Even for non Amazon Prime subscribers it's a great 4K HDR hub too.

Ideal hub for 4K HDR content - including Amazon Prime / Netflix / more ; Simple plug-in design ; Supports Dolby Vision / HDR / HDR10+ / Dolby Atmos

Ocassional connection issues require a reset ; Fat design can clash with other HDMI ports

The value of Amazon's 4K device can’t be questioned compared to its rivals, making this a great access point to streaming services beyond just Amazon's own Prime portal, including Netflix and more. Many shows are now in 4K HDR, too, so a compatible TV...

Amazon Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote review: The best media player under £40?

An HDMI dongle that brings all the Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and BBC iPlayer wonder to your telly. Plus there's a new Alexa voice-control remote.">

Alexa support on a TV device Quick at accessing content Great contextual text and voice search Good picture quality Excellent app integration and availability Doesn't require Echo to work

Few TV USBs will power it so you need to use the adapter. Many smart TVs offer access to all these apps and services anyway (minus the Alexa voice control)

For a penny shy of £40, you really can't go wrong with the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Alexa looks like she's on cue to rule the world... And if you want 4K and HDR then there's an alternative, pricier Stick available for you.

It's the Fire Stick on steroids: for your £50 or $50 you get 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos plus the Alexa remote.

Amazon Fire TV Stick review: New remote freshens this cheap streamer for 2019

Amazon's cheapest TV streamer can now control your TV with the remote. Is that enough to beat Roku?

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is one of the least expensive streamers you can buy. Voice features are best-in-class, and Echo and Dot owners can control it with Alexa. Its app selection is superb, responses are fast and video quality is as good as any...

The user interface promotes TV shows and movies from Amazon and its partners that you probably don't care about.

Amazon's cheap Alexa-powered stick is better than ever with a TV-control remote, but Roku's simple menus make it a better choice.

Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K review

Is it worth upgrading to the new 4K-flavoured Amazon streamer?

Great price for 4K HDR ; Solid app selection ; Speedy performance ; New power and volume buttons on remote

No Now TV app ; Not much 4K HDR content ; Limited Alexa abilities for non-Amazon apps ; Lame YouTube support

The best 4K streaming stick you can buy
