Philips' flagship 21:9 display is a winner

Superb build quality ; Great picture ; Relatively good value compared with rivals

No headline 75-100Hz refresh rate ; No G-Sync or FreeSync ; Inflexible stand

A bright IPS screen goes a long way with any monitor, and having an extra-wide 21:9 curved form factor makes the Philips Brilliance BDM3490UC a real visual treat when playing games or watching movies. Plus it's reasonable value for money too.

Can fit three to four A4 pages on screen. Text a little smaller than usual, but very readable. Superb photo quality

on/off switch is 'hidden' under middle of bottom edge of monitor. Until you find it you may think the monitor is faulty.

Curved screen is worth the extra at this size. The extra space is a great help.

It took a while for the DP to connect reliably to the PC. Not as bright as I expected but bright enough.
