Tablet specialist Wacom has a whole line of what it calls 'Smartpads' – devices that allow you to turn handwritten notes and sketches into digital versions for transfer to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth. The Bamboo Slate, unlike its Bamboo Spark...
Another mostly polished product from Wacom. But who would use it?

The first pen tablet made just for handwriting recognition
Attractive and well packaged ; Pen Flicks feature
Scrolling not the smoothest
Great for those with legible handwriting

Bamboo is Wacom's latest weapon in convincing us to seriously consider its products as mouse replacements. For the first time, it's aimed entirely at an audience that spends its time browsing the Internet, emailing and creating spreadsheets
Works excellently well, Highly versatile
A little pricey
Maybe it really is time to start considering replacing that mouse for good

Wacom has often bundled a mouse with its priciest graphics tablets, in a tacit acknowledgement that for some users there are tasks that are better accomplished with a mouse than a stylus
Comfortable and intuitive to use, Simple set-up and configuration, Draws power through single USB cable, Preference pane offers good options
Touch Ring is a little erratic, Mac OS X's Ink needs training
The Bamboo's superb flexibility and finish make it well worth the £68 price tag

The company's Slate and Folio are a no-risk way of getting your paper notes in the cloud.
Wacom's Bamboo Slate and Folio are easy to use and a seamless way to get your written notes into the cloud without sacrificing pen and paper.
You may not like the feel of the pen for writing in long stretches.
The Wacom Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio provide a practical bridge between handwritten notes on paper and making them available in the cloud.

Creative fun and social networking from Wacom with a glut of Top In-App Purchases.
Shows potential; attractive results easily achieved; ability to write and draw on cards; Facebook integration; possibility for sharing via Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram, not just for creative types; backed by quality Wacom name
Numerous Top In-App Purchases will deter many; accessing contacts buggy; competing in a busy field for social networking apps; need to ideally budget for a stylus
Grumbles about Top In-App Purchases aside, Bamboo Loop looks to be a good start from Wacom, that has much wider appeal then the company's creative focus, with ease of use a clear winner here. Social networking is a tough sector to crack though, and...

Bamboo has many uses but I never thought I would come across one that would involve my computer and various software mini-apps.
According to my Concise Oxford Dictionary, bamboo is a “Genus of tropical giant grasses; the stem, used as stick or material”. Wacom, however, would prefer you to look on Bamboo as a family of consumer pen tablets with, as far as I can see, absolutely...

If you'd prefer a pen rather than a mouse to navigate your desktop, the Bamboo from Wacom is a superb choice.
Adds personal touch and brainstorming potential to documents, effective RSI easing alternative to keyboard and mouse, intuitive after practice and tweaking, absolute positioning, sleek stylish design
Graphire4 might be a better option for anyone wanting just image editing on a budget, no clip or well to store pen on move, bundled software is PC only
Another worthy addition to the Wacom family assists in those day-to-day tasks while offering some flexibility for those also wanting image editing options. If you are prepared to invest time in getting to grips with the quirks of Apple's Ink and...

The latest in Wacom's range of graphics tablets is the stylish and compact Bamboo model, which in addition to assisting with hand-written notes and memos, is also designed to replace the more standard-issue mouse.
