This multimedia player may represent good value, but while Apple's around, its performance is just mediocre

Price ; large colourful menu system ; long battery life

Sluggish touchscreen ; music lacks clarity and detail ; cramped screen when watching video

The X-Fi2 2 represents decent value, but nothing more. There’s definitely room for improvement, even at this price

Priced at £99 the Creative ZEN X-fi2 is a good PMP for its wide format support and sound quality. However, its rather slow response and the non-responsive touchscreen stopped it from becoming a superior product.

Creative released their first touchscreen mp3 player, the Zen X-Fi 2, at the tail-end of last year as un updated version of the Zen X-Fi , which was – and still remains – a reasonably popular player with the anti-iPod mob.

The dodgy touchscreen really lets down the Zen X-Fi 2 in a big way, but if this isn’t going to bother you, you’ll be hard pressed to find a music player with better sound quality. Of course, if you’ve got the money and the patience, it may be worth...

It seems hard to imagine a world where there are any other MP3 players of note aside from the unavoidable iPods and yet it wasn't that long ago that Creative's Zen range made a big stir ...

Creative has rightly enhanced its impressive Zen X-Fi with much improved audio and video technology but the superb sound advances the company has have been largely cancelled out by a cumbersome touch screen system.
