HP turns in another solid compact printer
Good quality prints ; Competitive price ; Consistent results ; Bright LCD display
Slow prints ; Photo Fix is best disabled
The Photosmart's printing times are a bit slow, but the prints are worth waiting for

HP has updated its compact "Toaster" range of printers with the latest model, the Photosmart A618 Compact Photo Printer. The A618, like its predecessors is very good and the new features only hope to improve the overage package.
Small and compact, Bluetooth, Easy to use, Photo Fix option
Battery to make it truly portable is an optional extra

Compact photo printers like this Photosmart A618 are bread and butter to HP. Each year the company spends tens of millions of dollars refining its inks, optimising its nozzles and blending coatings for its photo paper

There's no getting around it: the HP looks uncannily like a toaster. Sadly, it has no bread-heating capabilities, but it is neat, practical and it occupies a minimal amount of space.
Build quality is a worry, but the HP is easy to use and print quality is decent.

A photo printer but certainly not run of the mill as it not only supports 15x10cm but also 18x13cm and panorama 30x10cm images. It has a certain upmarket look.
The unit is black with grey buttons and a grey trim around the drop down front that provided the reception for captured images. However when this is opened the whole front is found to be grey.

HP's first round of dedicated photo printers - the small, toaster-shaped ones you can print from directly using your camera - have been a big success, so it's hardly surprising that the company would want to ...
HP's Photosmart A618 is an evolutionary printer. It takes the technology that's proved successful in earlier HP photo devices and stretches it a bit, geometrically, to take wider paper. It's cheap to run, reasonably cheap to buy and produces prints...

Like most of HP's printing products, this truly portable photo printer is sleek, dark, and oozes quality.

The HP Photosmart A618 is extremely easy to setup, taking less than 5 minutes from removing it from the box to being ready to print. The Setup Guide poster is very easy to follow and there are just 7 steps to complete. Curiously in one of these steps,...
