If you want to give your CDs that professional touch, designing and printing an inlay is a good place to start. With the quality of printers available on market, most would be hard pushed to tell the difference between a professionally mass-produced...
If you want to give your CDs a professional touch and are prepared to put up with its shortcomings, the Z1 will do the job. The potential for wasted CDs due to ribbon jamming isn't great but, given the cost of blank media, isn't too great a concern.

Primera Signature Z1
Makes neat text and line art CD and DVD labels quickly; portable.
Can't decorate the whole disc; prints only one color at a time; the prints smudge when they get hot; PC only.
This portable CD/DVD printer is useful and utilitarian but more businesslike than artistic.

The Primera Signature Z1 CD/DVD Printer is an optical disc printer that almost anyone will find useful.
Affordable. Prints directly onto standard CDs and DVDs. Gives discs made in-house a more professional look. Ink costs only 10 to 40 cents per disc.
Prints in only one color (black, red, green, or blue).

It certainly is better than a box of Sharpies ; Good clear text ; below average images ; Big deal..for the price it is the best cheap thermal out there...never had an issue with it, printed over a thousand cd's ...very few bad ; Looks nice if you take...
Could certainly use a better SW interface...poor image control ; A bit fragile on the spindle ; sometimes gets stuck

I am going to ask Primera for my money back. And Primera's web site fails to supply a customer service contact point. Wonder why! Avoid this junker.
Good looking results if you have the time and money to print five disks to get one that is right
I wrote about this printer earlier having relatively little experience with it. Now that I'm trying to use it in a production mode, I am very disappointed. After labeling about ten disks, the unit choked. Today, I tried to label two disks with the same...
