The Homecast HT8000 PVR brings a budget approach to the twin tuner HD market — and that budget approach has both its good and bad sides.
HDMI support ; 320GB HDD ; Twin HD tuners with no loop cable
Useless Ethernet port ; Quirky EPG and menus ; No 1080p output support
The Homecast HT8000 PVR does have a certain budget appeal, given its twin HD tuners and the rise of more free to air HD content, but the practicalities of using the unit make it a bit of a non-starter. We'd suggest that a single-tuner HD unit, such as...

The latest twin-tuner HD PVR from Digital Products Group achieves the rare task of excelling with SD images as well as HD.

Firmware updates all in place, HDD errors after 11 months. Replaced under warranty now 6 months on another HDD problem despite plenty of ventilation. Timers wont start and if they do they dont stop. Timers wont start if your watching in time shift....
Would be great if it did what it said it does
Just about everything

For some reason it won't record or even save the things I am currently watching (you know how you can rewind etc). I've read the manual and I can't figure it out. It is set to PVT mode. Im stumped, can anybody help?

I have a HT8000, and it has been working fine, with the firmware update improving a number of the original bugs.

Had this for 12 months or more now and generally happy with the playback quality, it produces a brilliant HD image on my Grundig LCD and recording and playback functions have worked reliably. File transfers are a little clunky (PVR to PC) this was a...
price, layout, looks

I'll be looking for something better soon.
Good picture. Bigger HD (why are these things so small?)
Mine loses the signal a lot, but only when I'm surfing. HD management is clunky with titles and icons hard to read. Menus are counter-intuitive.

Works great since firmware upgrade via usb stick, need to surf the web to find better instructions and bug fixes
Love the timeshift fuction, plenty of hard disk space, good picture on my CRT TV. Can copy files to computer (Windows Vista)/burn to DVD and watch elsewhere if required
Picture in picture not available on CRT TV only HDMI mode, ethernet port does nothing and no sign of software upgrade to fix it. Icons on recording screen a bit hard to see on my 81cm TV!
