The Brother ImageCenter ADS-2000 packs some nifty features for a modestly priced desktop scanner, such as the ability to scan to USB thumb drives.
Scans to USB thumb drives. Good OCR performance. Good feature set for a moderately priced desktop scanner.
Somewhat slow for its rated speed, particularly at default settings. More misfeeds than usual for a desktop scanner.

Easy installation of software. Solid up-time for network resource. Great image quality and fast scanning.
If the host computer is off it wont work so I installed in on a server instead of client computer. The software has a monster footprint.

doesn't like staples
has been working 5 days a week for more than 2 years w/o problems. software (paperport) enough for my needs, will order another soon.
will have problems scanning a large amount of documents like > 20.

This machine is faster than my larger fujitsu 4530C and the quality is just as good. I've had it for over a year now. There have been no maintenance issues whatsoever. It has a small footprint and is cheaper than the ScanSnap.
The only con is that it does not take as many pages as advertised in the ADF without jamming, but then I've never seen any product with an ADF do so.

Get Acrobat Pro, whatever the cost! Does it Jam? Yes it jams, like when I forget to take the staples out.
Scans, and keeps on scanning.
Included software is cr@p. Does not remove staples.

If you are doing scans for Photoshop or image editing, you will still need a flatbed
I've purchased two of these scanners now, the first was gifted due to the awesomeness of it's scan-ability. It easily scans legal, double-sided (in a single pass), color, etc, and does so quickly. I'm the type who scans document I get, receipts, etc,...
The software included is junk, and does a poor job with larger files. Do yourself a favor and find yourself Acrobat.

We usually use Epson GT-S50's for our DMS and really hammer them hard. I thought I would try this Brother scanner for a change as it seemed quite similar on paper. So far it's a mixed bag. It scans a little quicker than the Epson and the quality for...
Fast scanning. Easy setup. Good quality for most things.
Extremely noisy. Not built very well. Very poor at scanning faint documents.

I was really looking for the Scansnap s1500 when I came upon this jewel. It was a review on another website that sold me, but the price on Newegg was the most compelling reason. The Brother ImageCenter ADS-2000 has all the features the Scansnap has,...
Twain, WIA, Isis and more drivers. Scan to USB, mobile device. $100 price difference from others in its class.
Software is weak, crashed in Lion. Real price could be more with better software.

If you scan more than a few pages in a day, then I would highly recommend shelling out the extra $100 for the Scan Scan by Fujitsu.
Nothing
Bulky; multi fees every 20 pages or so; makes extremely large file sized scans
