The scanner did not appear to be new. the scanner had scratches and did not come in it's original packaging. However, the scanner is working great.

I am quite impressed with this little scanner. I used it for scanning materials I need for my Dharma classes at the local Buddhist temple. The included ABBYY, version 9, worked well for both English and Japanese text. I am using Windows 7 SP1 - YMMV....
