It's not often that I sit down with a product to test and keep saying things like, "Wow, they got that right, too." But the Canon DR-1210C ($400 street) is that kind of product. It earns the "wow" not just because it does an extraordinarily good job of...
Low price for a flatbed document scanner. Incredibly fast text recognition. Unusually easy to use
Scans only in simplex mode (one side of each page). Low raw scan speed, at 12 pages per minute
The Canon DR-1210C's one real limitation is that it can scan only one side of a page. Beyond that, Canon got almost everything right.

Great scanner. Fast and reliable. Can take big stacks of documents and turn them into pdfs no problem. Quality is great. We use it around the office and it is one of the few scanners/printers that work 100% of the time
No deal breaking Cons. The one thing I did notice was the feed ramp, it is made of cheap plastic and could easily break off if hit hard enough

Originally we purchased this for production but looking back we should have gotten something a little more beefy. This scanner is ideal for a small to medium sized business.
good speed for the price (50ppm or 100ipm) ; Capture perfect is pretty straight forward ; low power consumption ; built very solid ; small footprint ; a lot of cool features in software (24-bit color, 256 greyscale, text enhancement, ect.)
Recommended daily duty cycle - 6,000 not that great ; some driver issues ; really slows down on color and advanced text enhancement

just purchased our second unit. our first died after about 1.4 months HEAVY duty scanning. we use it to go paperless with our customer invoices - scanning several hundred thousand pages. our invoices are pink very lightweight tear off sheets but the...
too bad our first died with controller/sensor error but overall great performance considering how heavily we use it. we switched to using a new version of omnip@ge for much better scanning performance

bought for an office to scan all customer invoices. scanned several hundred thousand lightweight pink forms for 1.4 years. died due to a controller/sensor error. would "JAM" and stop scanning then go ahead and feed the page out. out of warranty so...

None, could not use

I note that someone else complained about jams with the ADF BUT this is what happens if you connect to a USB 1.x interface because the paper moves too slowly - it really wants the USB 2.0 interface to work right... as specified. I used a low-cost...
This is a great scanner for a workgroup that has low to moderate volume - its quality and speed is good enough that it saves a walk to the copier for quick copies. Set up is flexible and the buttons can be programmed for straight to print or for...
The OMNIPage software which comes with it is too limited to be much use and keeps nagging to "upgrade" to the full version. The Acrobat works fine though if you make .DOC files, it's a little hit or miss on vertical spacing
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Total workhorse...not industrial grade, but more than sufficient for a small commercial and/or home office. Of the ADF/flatbed scanners available this is the one to buy..and it only costs a few more dollars than its entry-level counterparts
Great price, high-quality, and durable scanner with great software included
Like any non-industrial grade scanner, can suffer misfeeds/jams, especially when scanning certain media (e.g. thin paper)

We bought this to scan in piles of files. The feeder made this job a breeze. The easy to use software made scanning batches of files very easy! I use adobe acrobat extensively with this machine, so may not be so easy for me to use without that...
Easy to use Feeder, good software, Finally got rid of the fax machine! good customer support
none, going to buy another
