It was time to upgrade. I have a canon but I needed something faster since I am now scanning a lot of prints for work. I originally bought the Epson 3170. It was a quality scanner but the software was complicated and there was too many steps to obtain...

I used a Microtek XL6P for over four years, scanning my parents 70 years of photos. I thought the XL6P was great, but this newer Microtek 6800 is amazingly fast and efficient. It does an overview scan, that you can then divide into separate scan boxes ...
Fast, incredibly efficient scanning. ICE jump starts photo repairing.
No ICE for Negatives and Slides. Somewhat noisy at 600 DPI.
