High resolution and large scan bed make this an excellent choice for scanning graphics.

Umax Astra 4000U

The 36-bit Umax Astra 4000U ($180 street) and 48-bit Astra 4400 ($100) are both 1,200-dpi scanners, but they are very different in terms of features.

Good hardware, but use other software!

The body of this scanner has rather impressive dimensions. A little strangely on rather traditional body looks the bright orange plank of the holder of cover; under which right edge is located the transport clamper. The cover is lifted up and is fixed...

Great quality of scanning, reasonable price, tech support, MAC and PC

Umax - don't do it

I am an HP scanner user and still have my old 4p in the closet, which I am going to dig out and begin to use again.

14" bed, which is hard to find these days

At the original $400 price, I would have turned away from this one. Now, and until the end of 2/01 it can be yours for less than $200 and a $20 rebate besides.
