Pricy but professional cameras come to the home
Strong magnetic mounts for waterproof cameras ; Web interface offers high levels of control ; Free cloud recordings for up to 7 days ; Built-in siren
Base station difficult to set up with some routers ; Cameras need to be charged using lead and plug provided ; Quite an expensive set up compared to other brands
Looking for a professional-quality security camera set up for your property? Then the Arlo Pro 2 is definitely worth considering. The cameras are solidly built and capable of recording crystal-clear HD video, it's just a pity the base station is...

Netgear's $480 Arlo Pro 2 home security cameras bring 1080p HD live streaming to your yard.
The cameras and related Arlo app work well and allow advanced features like person alerts and motion zones (if you subscribe to the Arlo Smart cloud service).
$480 is pricey for a two-camera kit. It's difficult to angle the cameras unless you mount and attach them to the included magnetic bases (which requires a more permanent install). Alexa and Google Assistant integration didn't work well in our testing.
If you don't need Alexa or Google Assistant support, the Netgear Arlo Pro 2 security cameras ably deliver reliable live streaming and prompt activity alerts packed in durable weatherproof housing.

The Arlo Pro 2 may be more of a refinement than a reinvention of the original, but it remains one of the best smart home security systems money can buy. While a wave of low cost, standalone smart cameras — like the $20 Wyzecam — have sprouted up, Arlo...
Advanced scheduling and geofencing controls 7 days of free cloud storage Optional local backup via USB Backward compatible with Arlo Pro Scalable multi-camera plans for businesses
App interface a little convoluted
The Arlo Pro 2 may carry a high cost of entry for anyone looking for their first smart home camera, but it pays off. It is the most full-featured home security system we have yet tested. We are particularly impressed with the sheer amount of included...

Netgear's Arlo Pro 2 outdoor security camera system is completely wireless, works well with other smart home devices, and offers stunning 1080p video with free cloud and local storage options for event-triggered video.

The camera itself looks identical to the original Arlo, only bigger. It measures 3.1 by 1.9 by 2.8 inches (HWD) and weighs 4.8 ounces, compared with the first-gen's 2.5 by 1.6 by 2.8 inches and 4.0 ounces. It has a glossy white housing that meets IP65...

The second-generation Arlo Pro comes with higher resolution, improved motion detection, and more flexible installation options.
Can be use indoors or outdoors ; Customizable motion zones ; Can operate on either AC power or a rechargeable battery
Motion zones are only enabled when connected to AC power
The setup process for the Pro 2 is exactly the same as s—you plug the base station into your router with the supplied ethernet cable, then press sync buttons on the base station and the camera in succession to pair them. You’ll know they’ve paired...

The Arlo Pro 2 provides a great combination of software, free cloud storage and video quality.
Simple installation ; Clean, intelligent interface ; Flexible and easy scheduling ; Geofencing turns system on/off depending on phone's location ; Very good daylight video quality ; Free seven-day rolling cloud storage
Can login from only one device at a time ; No auto-rotate of live or playback videos on mobile devices ; Motion detection tools separate from setup section.
All of the above Arlo security cameras have the same excellent software, free cloud storage, and Smart Home integration. The one big difference is that both the Pro and Pro 2 require a base station, while the Arlo Q can function as a stand-alone...
