An Echo speaker for audiophiles?

Amazon Echo Studio is excellent but you do need an Amazon Music HD sub to get the full effect

Almost unbelievably priced, the Echo Studio is probably the most important Echo that Amazon has yet released.
Unbelievable price point ; Plenty of power ; Full Alexa support ; Dolby Atmos tech ; Fire TV pairing ; Lossless audio support through Amazon Music HD
Design not attractive ; Needs more colours
Almost unbelievably priced, the Echo Studio is probably the most important Echo that Amazon has yet released. We'd like it in a more attractive colour though.

Amazon gets serious about sound
Excellent value ; Works as well as any Echo in the smarts department ; Certain 3D tracks sound incredible ; Amazon Music HD’s better-than-3D-quality music trumps Apple and Spotify ; You might not need a soundbar
3D mixes are, well, a mixed bag ; You really need Amazon Music HD to justify it ; Its size might be an issue in some rooms
Easily the best-sounding Echo speaker you can buy, and while 3D audio isn’t a revolution, it’s a lot of fun

For the money, the Echo Studio is great value and delivers the sound quality we've been waiting for from an Echo. Here's our review.

With deep bass, hi-res audio chops, and Dolby Atmos support, the Echo Studio is Amazon's best smart speaker yet and has few peers in the smart speaker space.
Class-leading bass ; Slick and simple setup ; Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio support ; Large, sprawling soundstage ; All the Alexa smarts
Mid-range occasionally muffled ; Brittle touch to lighter instruments ; 3D music still in limited supply

Amazon's priciest Echo speaker is a beast. It's big, versatile and sounds fantastic. To get the most out of it, though, you'll want to consider a high-res streaming plan like Amazon Music HD. The 3D audio options are a bit limited for now, but even...
Excellent audio ; Alexa smarts ; Hi-res audio ; Relatively affordable ; Works as home theater speaker
Big ; EQ requires some fine-tuning ; 3D audio content is very limited ; Sound best with Amazon Music HD

With surprisingly robust Dolby Atmos-compatible directional audio, Amazon's Echo Studio delivers just as much power as smart speakers that cost twice as much.

The Echo Studio is Amazon's best-sounding Alexa smart speaker, and it out classes the Apple HomePod and others that cost a lot more, even if you ignore its 3D music gimmicks.
Loud, spacious sound ; Supports a wide variety of streaming music services ; Doubles as a Dolby Atmos home theater system when paired with a Fire TV device ; All the stuff Alexa can do on every other Echo speaker
Bass could be tighter and more powerful ; 3D music is more of a demo and less of a reality right now ; Takes up more physical space than many other smart speakers

This big Amazon speaker can fill a room with music or home-theater audio, and sensitive mics mean you don't have to shout.
The Amazon Echo Studio produces a monstrous cloud of sound that works great with action movies and spacious styles of music. It offers a lot of features, including Dolby Atmos, excellent connectivity and Fire TV hookup, for a relatively affordable...
The sound isn't always very distinct, which makes it less suitable to showcasing 3D music or Atmos. Multiroom support lags behind Sonos and Apple AirPlay. Dolby Atmos soundtracks require a Fire TV device.
The Echo Studio is the biggest and best-sounding speaker Amazon has produced to date.
