High performance ; Free Actonis HD 2013 software ; 2.5″ to 3.5″ bracket and 7mm to 9.5″ holder included ; Low price ; None worth to mention
ADATA Premier Pro SP920 is clearly one of the best SSD series available on the market. Even most demanding users should be satisfied of the performance and stability of this SSD.

ADATA are renowned for top drawer memory solutions and with some serious figures being touted by ADATA we test their latest SSD: The Premier Pro SP920.
Great all-round package ; Fast Write speed ; Good Price
Mediocre Write speed
When we first heard of the specs of the ADATA Premier Pro SP920 we were eager to get it on the test bench. We were however left a little disappointed.

Consistent drive performance throughout the drives lifespan, High levels of performance in most of the benchmark areas, Ultra low price per GB of storage, Synchronous NAND optimised with a Marvell controller, Designed for multimedia applications
Write performance levels slightly lower than other drives at this level
At the start of the review is asked what is the significance of this SSD release and even though this is not the first time we have seen synchronous NAND used in the design of a SSD, what ADATA have done with the drive as a whole is far more important...

In light of recent releases from the likes of Intel, OCZ, Corsair and Kingston, AData was starting to look a bit flat footed without a significant
AData has never been at the forefront of the SSD market, a space normally reserved for the likes of Samsung, Intel, OCZ, Crucial and others.

This spring has turned out to be the time for nearly all SSD OEMs to update their lineups. A little over a month ago Intel introduced the SSD 730 and a bit over a week ago Crucial/Micron added the M550 to its portfolio. Today it's ADATA's time to join...
All in all, I would've liked to see something more customized from ADATA but a rebranded value drive suffices too. As I've said before, in the mainstream segment it's all about price and if the MSRPs give any hint, the SP920 (along with the M550 of...

Based on my tests, the ADATA Premier Pro SP920SS 256GB actually performed well. It's constantly performing at around 500MB/s read speed and around 340MB/s write speed which are close to its rated speeds. Not bad actually for a rebranded M550. I don't...

Final Thoughts We mainly know ADATA for their high performance memory, but over the past year they have really made a push into the solid state drive market and the Premier Pro SP920SS is a great entry for them. While the drive is essentially a...
– Solid read speed, – Price, – 2 adapters included, – Backup software included
– Slower write speeds than other drives out there, – Marketing of the drive can be misleading

The ADATA Premiere Pro SP920 drive is a very reasonably priced mainstream SSD that really shines at larger capacities.

As hinted at earlier, this line does not use the newest Marvell controller, but as Marvell controllers have been very capable SATA 6Gb/sec units for a long time now, that is not necessarily a bad thing. In addition, Marvell controllers have a track...
