Lexar EX16GB-431 16GB ExpressCard External Solid State Drive (SSD)

It does exactly what it says. If you need an easy way to store some data, this is perfect.

It has a lot of space and isn't too costly. It fits perfectly in my Toshiba Laptop. It's just about the only worth-while ExpressCard I could find. Works perfectly on my Vista, XP, & Ubuntu 8 ; I use it for backing up my documents and music, etc. It has...

The back up program crashes if i add/remove any other removable storage device (like my USB HDD). It's kinda slow as well

Great tool for the DJ!

My opinion...great for DJ's that would like the extra storage as well as a last-minute set that might come in handy--only if you have access to a laptop with an express card.

Pretty decent storage capacity despite it's size. Fits perfectly flush on my Macbook Pro, and runs very smoothly. I can fit a generous amount of songs for my sets along with all of my "crates" stored within. This is great for the literal On-the-go DJ...

As with the other reviews, the write times are a bit slower, but that all depends on how you use it. I really don't have an issue with the write times since all I do is store music on it, and let the reading do the rest of the work, which worked out...

Misleading perhaps?

Buy a regular usb flash disk instead, it'll save you money and a headache.

Its memory

When you think SSD, what do you think of? SATA/SCSI solid state flash memory disk right? That would be cool... Instead, this is simply an express card to usb adapter with a usb based flash disk installed in it. Nothing cool, nothing fancy, just an...

Lexar EX16GB-431 16GB ExpressCard External Solid state disk (SSD) - Retail

Bought it from Lexar , should have got it from Newegg for $15 less.

It is handy to have as data storage and you dont have to worry about it getting knocked off like a thumb drive.

Write speeds are too slow for readyboost , thumb drive is much quicker.

Lexar 16 gig

I am able to use 4 gigs for ready boost and still have space for all my critical backups. Ready boost does appear to speed things up compared to XP.

There was a small issue with the card sticking out when inserted (about 1/16 th of an inch). This was not an operational issue, but I wondered if it might catch on something and damage the card.

Not a good performance Solution

Is easy to install and Windows Vista

Copy to and from is slow, try to setup some VM in this and they perform worse than in a 5400 rpm disk drive

Read/Write speeds

According to support in Lexaristan, the ExpressCard SSD has read/write speeds of 15MB/s read and 14-17MB/s write. This seems odd, and kind of slow. Numerous CF cards on Newegg have much higher read/write speeds. Unfortunately, very little support...
