A basic smart speaker, the Amazon Echo Pop is good for simple use but the Echo Dot isn't much more expensive.
Low(ish) price ; Matter compatible ; Compact and fun design
Echo Dot isn’t much more expensive ; No temperature sensor
A cool-looking smart speaker, the Amazon Echo Pop is the new entry-level Alexa speaker. It comes in a wider range of colours, and has option sleeves to mix things up further. If you’re after a basic smart speaker for general requests and smart home...

The Echo Pop is a new entry into Amazon's line of smart speakers, but it feels at odds with its own pricing
Fun and stylish design ; Responsive with good microphone pickup ; More affordable list price
Trimmed-back features ; Pricing makes no sense ; High volumes cause distortion
A fun new form factor, a great selection of colorways, and a decently rounded sound for its size – the Amazon Echo Pop is a fun addition to any room. However, although it’s positioned as the most basic, bottom-of-the-line speaker, it’s a little too...

The Amazon Echo Pop is the least expensive way to get into the Alexa ecosystem — and you basically get what you pay for. Which is good.
The price is right Decent sound Mostly all the features Bonus Eero extender
No aux input
“The Amazon Echo Pop, the least-expensive entry into the Alexa ecosystem, does what it advertises.”

The Amazon Echo Pop Kids is an affordable smart speaker that gives children access to age-appropriate information, music, stories, and audiobooks.

The latest tiny addition to the Alexa family focuses on style rather than sound.
Loud, front-facing sound. Great for desks and tabletops against the wall. Fun colors that you won't find on other Echo speakers!
Weaker bass and less-robust sound than the similarly priced 5th-gen Echo Dot.

The latest Alexa speaker available is the Amazon Echo Pop, a nicely designed, aesthetically pleasing piece of hardware that answers questions and buys things.
Directional audio is handy ; Matter ready ; Can function as a range extender for Eero Wi-Fi ; Inexpensive because it's part of a larger plan
The buttons are awkward ; The sound isn't brilliant ; It has no LED display

Amazon's first truly stylish smart speaker includes all the Alexa goodness you'd want, but most people are better off with the Dot.
Great looking ; Zippy, with responsive microphones ; Fun
Not differentiated enough from Echo Dot ; Dot does more, and only a little costlier ; Not great for music

Only a tad smaller than the existing Echo Dot, the Amazon Echo Pop does less and sounds worse than its sibling, and it's not much cheaper.
Compact design ; Supports Matter and Sidewalk ; On-board Alexa ; Acts as an Eero extender
Only slightly smaller than the Echo Dot ; No motion or temperature sensors ; Iffy sound quality ; Feels cheap
The Amazon Echo Pop isn’t much smaller or cheaper than the Echo Dot, yet it sounds worse, does less, and feels cheap. Our advice: get a Dot instead.

One of the latest smart speakers on the market, the Amazon Echo Pop might look cute, but its beauty is only skin deep.
Affordable ; Aesthetically pleasing ; Interesting accessories
Mediocre sound quality ; Mediocre microphone performance ; No audio line-in
The Amazon Echo Pop might look cute, but its beauty is only skin deep.

Sometimes you just want a cheap and reliable smart speaker, and that's where the Echo Pop comes in. While there are a few surprising features, it's about as basic as it gets. Just when you thought Amazon couldn't release a cheaper speaker.
