If you're in the market for a portable Bluetooth speaker, they're not exactly hard to find. You can bung one in your basket at the supermarket or order one online for peanuts – great news if you're on a tight budget. The trouble is, these low-cost...
DALI redefines portable Bluetooth performance with a stunning speaker that combines elegant design, long battery life and sparkling sound to devastating effect.

What Hi-Fi? Awards 2019 winner. What's the Katch? You really need to wall-mount it
Full, tight bass ; Plenty of dynamic variety ; Excellent spatial handling ; Good selection of inputs
Impractical dimensions ; Treble could be sweeter ; No front-facing display
Great for music, even better for films, this tidy soundbar delivers all the sound your living room needs

This Dali delivers a smooth and engaging sound with no katch
Powerful, full-bodied sound ; Great sense of timing and dynamics ; Long battery life
Nothing at this price
There's a new champ in the sub-£400 wireless speaker category, the Dali deservedly taking its place among the 2016 What Hi-Fi? Award winners

The word Dali will probably see your mind either wander to the 'tache-twiddling famed Spanish artist, or to a certain Danish audio manufacturer known for its great quality speakers. The Dali Katch isn't necessarily a piece of art to be hung in a...
Great sound quality, portable form factor, two EQ presets to suit different environments, long-lasting battery, USB compatible with Chromecast Audio
Plasticky mesh panels and leather strap don’t look great, B&O BeoPlay A1 as good but for less money, no app
The Dali Katch is a tale of two halves: its exterior aesthetic has some not-so-hot moments, while its audio artistry is second-to none. The battery life is standout for a portable Bluetooth speaker too.

Portable speakers are big business at the moment and this has attracted some mainstream speaker brands - can DALI deliver an all-star performance with the Katch?
Fast and engaging sound ; Lovely industrial design ; Genuinely portable
Quite pricey ; Pre adjusted EQ not very effective ; No microphone for calls

Dali, a well-respected provider of high fidelity speaker systems, has released a TV soundbar, the Katch One that is a sophisticated...
Styling ; Compact Size ; Variety of inputs besides HDMI ; Full-featured remote control induced ; Variety of mounting options
An optional matching subwoofer ; Indicator lights visible from a seated position. They would be better at the front rather than on the top deck. ; Better documentation. The quick start guide is thin on content, requiring a download of the full manual.
Within the limitations I’ve stated, the DALI KATCH ONE offers good value for money. It has easy integration with your TV and remote control through the HDMI ARC interface.

This soundbar must be placed up against a wall to sound its best, and it requires more space beneath a TV than most.
Clean, open, well-balanced sound when placed up against the wall ; Wide mode improves the sound significantly ; Elegant Danish design
Wimpy sound when placed away from a wall or other large flat surface ; Very tall, needs a lot of space below TV ; No display behind grille cloth ; Expensive
There’s a lot to like about the DALI Katch One—but only under certain circumstances. It’s much taller than most soundbars, so you must have plenty of room below the TV for it. And it must be placed up against a wall or other large, flat surface to...

The sound quality is clean, clear, and bright, but the bass is generally weak.
Clean, clear, bright sound ; Small, lightweight ; Long battery life ; Elegant Danish design
Sound seems to come entirely from small box ; Weak bass unless you put it up against a wall ; Expensive
Don’t get me wrong—the DALI Katch doesn’t sound bad per se. On the plus side is a clean, clear, bright sound that’s sure to carry throughout just about any gathering. I especially like its reproduction of vocals. But the bass is generally weak, even in...

Performance Features Ergonomics Value
DALI (Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries) isn't a well-known brand in the United States, but the company may get more notice once word of its Katch One soundbar gets out. Stylish and simple, DALI's soundbar ($999) strikes an interesting balance...

After spending a few weeks with DALI's Katch One soundbar, I entirely see Brent Butterworth's point. I think a lot of people will want to bring home a Katch One. It's beautifully designed, and has a very appealing feature set.
