iHome Audio iP1 Home Theater Review

Striking design ; Good voicing ; Enhancement sounds good with rock and pop music

Music is sometimes unnatural and harsh ; Consistent fuzzy sound below music

Visually striking iPod dock with digital enhancement helps some music but makes other tunes sound unnatural and harsh.

iHome iP1 review: iHome iP1

iHome iP1

Arresting design; component video outputs for iPod video; line-in jack; good sound quality; GSM shielding for optimal iPhone compatibility.

Somewhat pricey; no built-in radio or alarm; not great with softer, acoustical tracks.

The iHome iP1 may not sound great with all types of music, but this striking iPod/iPhone speaker system will appeal to listeners who gravitate toward pop, hip-hop, rock, and electronica.

iHome iP1 Studio Series Audio System

iHome's $300 iP1 has a slick design and a great remote, but it stumbles on bass at high volumes.

Sleek, unique design. Full iPod navigation on remote. Bass and treble controls. Component video out.

"Bongiovi DPS" is a silly gimmick. Bass distorts at high volumes.

iHome iP1

Given the iHome iP1's high price ($299.99 direct), this iPod/iPhone dock had better sound magnificent and come with an excellent remote control. One out of two ain't bad: The remote features full iPod navigation. But iHome's promise that the push of a...

Bongiovi DPS" is a silly gimmick. Bass distorts at high volumes

The iP1 is a solid-sounding iPod/iPhone dock, but at $300, we expect better performance at high volumes—and if you think the "Bongiovi DPS" effect sounds like a gimmick, it is.

Review: iHome Audio iP1 iPod speaker dock

The iP1 is visually striking, and its digital enhancement of compressed music is helpful with some genres. But there are other speaker docks that produce a more natural sound.

iHome says that the iP1 uses “a complex chip-based algorithm” developed by Bongiovi Acoustics to restore “harmonics, brightness, clarity and presence” while also boosting the bass. How well does the technology work? To my ears, it sometimes works a...

Average user rating from: 1 user(s)

The style of the iP1 is a cool idea, but it probably could have been better. Because of the minimalistic design, some practical stuff like a case and/or a handle to assist with moving were not implemented. The sound is better than expected. It reaches...

Good quality sound, convenient to use with iPhone/iPod, better price than competitor's like Bose, Design is cool

Not really easy to carry or move, has a power 'brick' that is cumbersome and unnecessary, lacks a little in sound dynamics

iHome iP1 Studio Series Speakers for iPod + iPhone

Consumer review (rakuten.com)

Great sound, maybe overpriced

I purchased this for one intention to listen music outside. It has succeeded and provided great volume. You can hear the music from the iPod across the backyard while I'm grilling with friends and running around with the kids. My original one I believe...
