Does Sonos deserve a high five?
Big, room-filling sound ; Well made and finished ; Can form a stereo pair
A bit too bassy for its own good ; Slightly rounded-off treble ; No Bluetooth
Bold, expansive sound and great multi-room potential – but just short of being the complete article

The Sonos Five delivers the scale and bass to really satisfy music lovers
Warm, clear and entertaining sound ; Wide dispersion of audio ; Flexible use options ; Future-proofed
No microphone for voice control ; No Bluetooth ; No hi-res support yet
The Sonos Five provides astonishingly room-filling, detailed and warm sound as well as potential software updates down the line thanks to advanced internal specs. It may be only a subtle refresh of the old Play:5, but perhaps Sonos can afford to rest...

Beautiful design ; Excellent sound quality ; Solid build ; Great dynamic range ; Impressive wireless mesh network ; Great features ; Intuitive Sonos app
Expensive ; No Bluetooth ; No built-in smarts ; No direct Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant support (via other devices only)

Consumer review (richersounds.com)
Have had a Sonos 5 in my bedroom for a few weeks now. It's a sophisticated sound and has good balance and definition. it belts out a massive sound if required with little or no distortion. The base is much more accurate than Bose but still a bit heavy...
