The Sonos Play:5 (2015) is the first total rethink of the brand's original multi-room streaming speaker. It's the most expensive, and largest, product in the Sonos line-up, but it's also the best. It sits above the mid-range Play:3, and lower end Play:1.
Fantastic, warm sound ; Looks the business ; TruePlay generally helps in certain environments
TruePlay is tricky to set-up ; Single app approach can be a pain

For its size, this flagship speaker packs a punch
Great look ; Easy to setup ; Powerful sound.
App could do with a refresh ; speaker legs are apparent ; Very simple design.
An elegant looking and bombastic sounding speaker that proves Sonos is still king of the streamers.

Still the biggest and boldest speaker in the Sonos range, but the Play:5 is no longer the very best in its class
Big, powerful sound ; Rich bass response ; Good detail levels ; Crystal clear mids ; Easy setup ; Flexible design ; The best app of its type ; Part of probably the best multi-room ecosystem available
No high-res support ; Can now be beaten for outright sound quality and value
The biggest, boldest and most powerful speaker in the Sonos range, but new rivals have stolen some of the Play:5's thunder
Expert review by : What Hi-Fi? (whathifi.com)
Bigger, bolder and more powerful, the new Play:5 performs even better than its predecessor...
Big, powerful sound Rich bass response Good detail levels Crystal clear mids Easy setup Flexible design Good app Option for multi-room
No high-res support
With a bigger, bolder, more powerful sound that goes low and wide without forgoing expression and clarity, there’s no doubt that the new Play:5 succeeds in completely overshadowing its predecessor. It's a touch pricier at £429 (the original was £350),...

Sonos big boy the Play:5 is re-imagined for a new era of streaming
Sleek design ; Massive sound ; Trueplay is impressive
App needs an upgrade ; Side speaker legs protrude
Expert review by : Britta O'Boyle (pocket-lint.com)
In 2015, Sonos introduced a new Play:5; a refreshed and entirely redesigned successor. Is it everything it should be? Here's our review.
Beautiful design ; Excellent sound quality ; Solid build ; Great dynamic range ; Impressive wireless mesh network ; Touch controls
No hi-resolution audio support ; Slightly bass heavy ; A little expensive for what's essentially a plastic speaker
The Play:5 (2015) offers a beautiful, sophisticated design that we love, but more importantly, the sound it delivers is superb. Yes it's slightly bass biased, there is no hi-res support and it isn't cheap, but the Play:5 (2015) is an all-round...

Find out why the new Sonos Play:5 is one of the best wireless speakers around in our full review.
Aside from the lack of High-Res support, there's very little to dislike about the new Play:5. It looks great and sounds awesome with plenty of power on offer. We like the new touch sensitive controls, the wide range of streaming services on offer and a...

The original big wireless speaker is back. But is it still best?
Tremendous, spacious sound ; Composed at volume ; Punchy bass
Less connectivity than Bluetooth rivals ; No high-res support
A reinvention in all but name, the new Play:5 offers even more boom for your buck.

Sonos has a brand-new flagship multiroom audio speaker, and it's a major improvement over its predecessor in every way -- though it costs more, too.
The second-generation Sonos Play:5 is a sleek, well-designed Wi-Fi speaker that delivers rich sound for its size and strong bass. It offers the full Sonos wireless experience, controllable from iPhone, iPad and Android apps, with compatibility with...
Rather expensive, especially if you want to buy a second one for stereo sound.
While fairly pricey, the second-gen Play:5 is the best-sounding Sonos speaker yet.
Expert review by (which.co.uk)
Sonos is a big name when it comes to networked multi-room sound systems, and the Sonos Play:5 is the largest speaker in its current range. According to Sonos, it's 'the ultimate all-in-one listening experience with the deepest, richest hi-fi sound',...
