HP Envy x2 (2017) hands-on: A ridiculously thin laptop powered by the Snapdragon 835. Is Qualcomm's mobile platform the future for thin-and-light laptops?
At its annual Tech Summit, Qualcomm unveiled the first few laptops that will ditch traditional PC internals for the Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform – the same CPU you’ll find in the best Android smartphones. The most interesting of this new wave of...

HP's designer Windows 8 convertible is attractive but can it match the competition?
Well-built, Attractive design, Good screen and speakers, Good battery life, Full-size SD card slot
Overpriced, Atom performance still disappoints, Less battery life than some rivals, No bundled stylus, optional stylus not Wacom

A flawed fusion of mobile and laptop
Amazing battery life ; 4G connection ; Quick startup times ; Light and thin design ; Good speakers
Far too expensive ; Under-powered ; Limited compatibility
Although the HP Envy x2 has some good points, like a thin and light design and spectacular battery life, it’s let down by a price tag that is far too high for the performance on offer. A real shame.

The first Qualcomm-powered Windows 10 tablet
Impossibly thin and ultra-light ; Sharp design ; 20-hour promised battery life
Comes pre-loaded with Windows 10 S
The HP Envy x2 is an incredibly thin Windows 10 tablet with a classy design that’s equally as impressive. If Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset proves to be as good as it promised, this could well be the best slate of next year.

A reboot of HP's successful hybrid
Speed ; Quiet ; Gorgeous detachable leather keyboard
Size and weight ; Poor display ; No back camera ; Awful speakers
The new Envy x2 runs smoothly and quietly thanks to Intel's Core M processor. Unfortunately everything above the hood left much to be desired. When my favorite aspect of your hybrid is its alternative detachable keyboard, it's time to go back to the...

Is the HP Envy X2 the perfect Windows 8 hybrid?
Great battery life ; Slim build
Basic power ; USB on keyboard dock only ; Cramped keys

Laptop? Tablet? Ultrabook? Who cares, the HP Envy X2 is just plain awesome
Excellent hybrid design ; Exceptionally long battery life ; Light and runs very cool ; Runs all Windows applications
Tablet a bit oversizeD ; Paltry mass storage ; Limited tablet-optimized apps ; Poor 3D graphics performance
In the end, though, we see so much potential in the Envy x2 we're willing to overlook some of its awkwardness. It's the type of device that is sure to improve over time, and it's showing the way to the undeniable future of ultralight laptops.

It was late-2016 when Qualcomm, Microsoft and a number of other partners started talking about Windows 10 devices running on Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware.

HP's take on the Windows 8 tablet-meets-laptop concept comes in the form of the Envy x2, an 11.6-inch brushed-aluminium hybrid that, on initial inspection, looks to be a quality nugget of glistening tech. Under the silver-like skin there's the likes of...
Good battery life, brushed-aluminium build, screen looks quality, NFC
Pricey, keyboard's "sticky" keys aren't great for typing, limited power from Atom processor, fiddly tablet separation process
The HP Envy x2 is a product that we were excited about when it was first announced. But that excitement has largely evaporated thanks to the product's price point. See, the HP Envy x2 isn't a bad product by any means, it's just badly positioned on the...
