I've been charmed by the Remarkable 2. It's different from any other tablet and while it's niche, it knows what it wants to be.

If digital scribbling is your thing, it really is quite remarkable
Gorgeous, slim design ; Incredible writing experience ; Handwriting to text conversion
Limited functionality ; Screen is not front lit ; Expensive with accessories
When it comes to the best writing and sketching experience you can get on an E Ink screen, there’s none better than the reMarkable 2. It’s also arguably the best-looking tablet I’ve tested. Without frontlighting, though, you can only use it during the...

In the world of tech we've become accustomed to devices with multiple purposes. One could point at the smartphone as being the ultimate example of that - with plethora of apps, it's replaced our physical alarm clocks, calendars, to-do lits, sticky...
Nothing digital feels better for handwriting Versatile modes for musicians Elegant and thin design Will save space vs lots of physical notebooks
No backlight means you can't use it in bed at night It's expensive
Sometimes a gadget comes along that's so niche and limited in its purpose that for most people it'd be a needless expense. But for those who want to reduce their impact on the planet but love handwriting notes, plans and journals, the ReMarkable 2 is...

Still arguing the case for simplicity, the Remarkable 2 treads a tightrope between smart features and no-nonsense note-taking
Best-in-class, paper-like experience ; Beautiful, impossibly thin design ; Great blend of smarts go beyond a simple e-reader
Marker stylus not included ; No backlight ; Battery life could be better
Premium design meets a polished, smart but stripped back digital notetaking experience – the best E Ink notepad and paper alternative you can buy right now

This E-Ink is almost as thin as paper but can do a lot more. The ReMarkable 2 is indeed remarkable and will be a boon for the right user
Thin, light and stylish ; Excellent pen input ; Powerful companion app ; Continued software updates
Pen not included ; Subscription unlocks all features ; Very occasional software gripes ; No backlight
The ReMarkable 2 has, over time, lived up to its name. It features meticulously designed hardware – attention to detail that extends to the accessories, and it’s a simple, easy-to-use, connected notepad that’s improved with age thanks to software...

I'm writing this review — well, the first draft of it — by hand, on one of the coolest writing devices it has ever been my pleasure to use. How much pleasure? Let's just say that I've scribbled my way through 21 pages so far, in under a day, just for...
But in the end, comparing this device to its far more expensive Apple brethren is a little like, well, apples and oranges. The ReMarkable 2 is the little e-ink tablet that would, from a small Norwegian company with big ambitions. The pandemic may have...

Like the original before it, this is a pricey tablet with an e-paper display that does a fraction of what other tablets can do for the same $400 or so. It's more reasonably priced than the first model, and to get the most out of it, you basically have...
Put another way, the reMarkable 2 manages to get a lot right, even if the most meaningful differences right now are cosmetic. And to someone like me who’s been trying to jump-start a long lost passion for writing by hand, the experience is largely...

The ReMarkable 2 tablet requires a monthly subscription for many expected features, but it delivers the smoothest E Ink writing experience we've encountered.

The pen, as the saying goes, is mightier than the sword. And modern computers, apparently: despite the leaps and bounds of technology, with tablet styluses and Wacom digitizers, ordinary pen and paper has survived to this day. But the $399 reMarkable 2...
Enjoyable writing experience Excellent display Extremely thin
Expensive Limited capabilities No backlight
As a piece of hardware, the reMarkable 2 is a fantastic improvement over the original. The improvements to the pen and overall writing experience combined with the already excellent E Ink panel make writing with the reMarkable 2 the best digital...

Paper people—folks like me who prefer the feel of paper when it comes to notation and illustration—who are looking for a tablet to replace notebooks and printed documents can make the transition with the reMarkable 2. The device is essentially a large...
For many years I have relied on notebooks in my every day life to jot down editing notes, lay out an outline for a video or article, make to-do lists, and much more. I’ve always had a paper notebook handy at my desk and the thought of swapping that out...
