Panasonic TH-65VX100E 65in Plasma Screen

In short, Panasonic's TH-65VX100E 65in plasma screen is as awesome as its price.

Having spent my second review in a row splurging out a breathless stream of excited positivity, I'm kind of feeling like I ought to have found something nasty to say about the 65VX100E. So here goes: in case you somehow hadn't noticed, it costs £8,000....

Panasonic PDP TH-65VX100E review

We lap up Panasonic's high-end 65 "pro-level plasma

Black levels are sensational ; Fine detailing is spectacular and colours are immaculate ; Standard-def performance is first-rate ; An option to turn the internal scaler off is good news for those with dedicated external pixel-tweakers

£8,000 is a serious investment and there's no tuner or speakers built-in

An extremely pricey option for the average TV buyer but eight grand can't buy you a finer TV. If you are looking for the best, look no further

Panasonic TH-65VX100 review

It's very expensive but the performance is very good – if you want something this big, then look no further

Massive screen ; slim frame and smart style ; modular connections ; fine attention to detail and beautifully balance colours with SD and HD

Some hints of noise at times ; smaller screens will be sharper ; expensive

Yes it's expensive but the performance is very good – if you want something this big, then look no further

Panasonic TH-65VX100 review

Panasonic's flagship plasma is an extraordinary big-screen experience. But you'll need a big room and equally roomy pockets to justify it

Huge and hugely expensive, but if you’re a home cinema fanatic with the space and the money, you won’t be disappointed

Panasonic TH-65VX100E

The Panasonic TH-65VX100E Full HD Home Theatre Monitor is a 65-inch top-of-the-range Panasonic plasma television that has a massive 60,000:1 contrast ratio and a colour range that's 120 per cent higher than a normal HDTV. The good Bells and whistles...

This is not the best High Def screen in the world. It’s the best High Def screen in the known universe. Scientists peering through the Hubble telescope suspected for a time that they may have located a better display in the vicinity of Betelgeuse. But...

Panasonic TH-65VX100E

It's big, it's clever – and most of you will never own it no matter how much you might want to

The best picture quality we’ve seen on a flat TV / Reams of features / Exceptionally flexible settings

It costs more than a Renault Megane. Sport

First impressions of Panasonic’s monster don’t bode particularly well. For the 65VX100E’s simple black rectangle design really couldn’t look more basic – despite being made from exceptionally robust aluminium

Over the years I've often wondered why we haven't seen much in the way of flat-panel home cinema monitors. Not TVs — I'm talking about a device optimised for one purpose only: to take the picture presented by various items of source equipment and...
