Sharp Aquos LC42D83X

Sharp picture, good colours, motion technologies well implemented, stylish design

Some minor contrast issues; a bit of calibration required to achieve a good picture

A strong performer, the Sharp LC42D83X will impress with its great full high-definition picture and the design ensures it looks stunning even when powered down.

Sharp AQUOS LC37D53X

Good colour balance, minimal noise, nice PC and standard-definition performance

Image a little soft at times, 100Hz motion mode causes image aberrations

A solid 720p unit from Sharp, the 37in LC37D53X offers good image quality at a decent price point. It does have some minor issues, but for regular DVD and some HD watching in a small- or medium-sized room it is a nice choice.

Sharp AQUOS LC37PD5X

Excellent image quality when viewing HD movies and regular DVDs, attractive design, integrated HDTV tuner, high quality speakers

Dithering on static images when playing HD games, only one HDMI port

The Sharp LC37PD5X is a good quality television, but dithering issues when playing HD games prevents it from being considered excellent.

Sharp AQUOS LC52PD7X

Excellent image quality at 1080p and high definition modes, Good standard definition scaling, Superb PC mode, Wide range of connection options, Attractive Design

Some minor pixelation during 720p gaming, Images were too dark at times

The LC52PD7X is an excellent LCD TV for those wishing to enter the world of 1080p and high definition content. Its price tag is high, but if you have the cash to spend, you won't be disappointed.

Sharp AQUOS 52GD7X

Remarkable image quality at 1080p, Also excellent at 720p, Great upscaling of Standard Definition content

PC resolution not high enough, Speaker resonance issues

While the price is rather high, the Sharp LC52GD7X is easily the best 1080p television we have reviewed.

Sharp Aquos LC32P50E

The picture is SD, so no scaling effects. Plus it looks great!

After switching off an AV source (Freeview/DVD etc), the telly stops responding to the remote control! The only way round this seems to be to always switch off the telly first.
