First impressions of Sony's big bet on brightness

Thrillingly bright and punchy ; Extremely impressive backlight technology ; Still looks cinematically authentic

65-inch model not coming to the UK ; Still only two HDMI 2.1 sockets ; Can’t quite match OLED for black purity and viewing angles

We will need to wait until we have put a full production model through our rigorous, comparative testing process before delivering a final verdict, but Sony’s super-bright Bravia 9 so far looks like a big step forward for backlit TVs. Will it be enough...
