Adding to its range of web cams, Logitech has released the QuickCam Communicate STX aimed at those who are more interested in video communication aspects.
Although web cams were originally developed, and sold as devices for, video conferencing purposes, they were quickly taken up by consumers for more general videoing activities. As a result, extra features, such as face decorating software and avatar...

Pricey, but the excellent image quality and audio capture make it so worth it!

Webcams are considered cheap but the Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe is far from cheap at Rs 5,859. Using high resolution and quality requires a lot of bandwidth on the Internet.

While many webcams vaguely (and sometimes strongly) resemble miniature aliens, Logitech's QuickCam Communicate STX's eyeball shape and glowing blue light (which lets you know the camera is on and transmitting) certainly reinforce that impression.

None, so far
Only 15fps when using 640x480 with QuickCam Software ; When using in bright(er) lighting conditions, picture burns through
Specs on retail box and on Logitech webpage are incorrect. "Capture high-quality VGA (640 x 480) video": I tried to capture and only could do 15fps, I asked Logitech and they replied: "I would like to inform you that you will not be able to record...

Not a con, but it would be nicer if it had a longer USB cord.
The images are great. very clear. the microphone is great. I talk to people in skype with this device and they can hear me perfectly when i am talking normal and they see me great aswell
None. This is an awesome webcam
Consumer review (newegg.com)
I bought this hoping for a higher quality picture on my desktop than from my built-in laptop camera, but at best it is about the same fuzziness as the original 1997 Connectix QuickCam, only in color.
Software proved to be well designed, bug-free and loaded with features
Image sharpness even at 2mb test setting was poor. Manual focus is on camera globe, hard to find, and adjustment never finds a setting with a sharp focus. Paper and PDF documentation is skimpy

It looks like the Driver is having problem with VISTA.
Excellent resolution, special effects
Occasionally, the Driver isn't recognized and need reload. Initially. the Driver on the CD didn't work. so, it was uploaded from MFG website
Consumer review (newegg.com)
For the price, not a bad camera. As the other review said 3.1 megapixel is not great, but not horrible either. My biggest issue was with the software that I had to uninstall and let vista find its own drivers.
Easy to install, clean image, crisp mike built in, and a very sturdy stand
Manual focus. Unfortunately the software that comes with the camera clashed with my SB audio drivers
