Philips might not seem to be the obvious choice for a webcam manufacturer, however with a huge imaging department care of its TV division you can quickly see the link. The Philip SPC 900NC is the company's flagship webcam a part of its ToUcam III...
Pixel Plus technology found in its TVs, easy to use, 90 frames per second capture rate in video mode
Automatic lighting adjustment gets confused at times, very narrow angle of view, stand fits uncomfortably on laptop screens.
If you are after good picture quality without the need for a wide angle of catchment then the Philips does a good job. Likewise the mic worked well to pick up our voice, if not a little too well. With no mic direction software background noise was...

Philips SPC-900NC
Smooth face tracking; useful lighting presets; smooth video at 30 and 60fps; tripod screw mount.
Buggy software; dead pixels on sensors; cheap and lightweight; poorly designed stand; no autofocus; low max resolutions for video and photos.
Aside from its ability to follow a face, the Philips SPC 900NC Webcam disappoints.

Good microphone, good and adjustasble lens, ability to adjust the frames per second ratio.
design of the long bracket falls off top of lcd screen ,needed to use table tripod ,would be agood idea to supply one with the camera package .

I have always trusted Phillips products and the price was right. Also the shutter speed was very generous and I achieve perfect picture quality every time.
The 'hang it on the back of your PC' could do with some form of modification. Maybe a soft 'grip it' pad on the base and the arm that hooks onto the back of the monitor would help?
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Image quality is the best in any webcam I've seen.
Don't particularly like the clip attachment - but that comes off.

Very sensitive in low-light conditions. High qualiity optics. Software simple to install.
In camera mode, an awkward "shutter" button on the side of the unit itself. I imagine the hinged arm for perching the webcam on the screen top might drive laptop users nuts!
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
The picture is excellent
it sits precariously on my lap top and falls off very easily.
Consumer review (newegg.com)
The camera installs easily by just plugging it into the USB port after running the setup software.
It made my computer freeze up the first time I used it (running XP Pro), but after I rebooted and defragged- it worked fine.
