Samsung Series 9 15-inch (NP900X4B-A02US)

Samsung gets a jump on Apple's anticipated 15-inch MacBook Air with the super-slim and -sexy Samsung Series 9 15-inch (NP900X4B-A02US).

Incredibly thin and light for a 15-inch laptop. Bright, hi-res display. WiDi.

Expensive. Shallow keyboard. Slippery touchpad. Only 57GB of 128GB SSD available at startup. VGA and HDMI dongles not included.

Samsung Series 9 review (15-inch, early 2012)

One year ago, Samsung released the Series 9 laptop, and at the time, we'd never seen a more premium Windows machine. It was thin, light, visually striking, and choice components filled the svelte...

Strong, sexy design ; Solid battery life ; Cool and quiet ; Matte screen

Shallow keyboard ; Muted colors and iffy viewing angles ; Weak hinge ; Terrible speakers

The Samsung Series 9 is a status symbol, rather than a comfortable user experience

Samsung Series 9 NP900X4B-A02 (15-inch) review:

Are larger-scale ultrabooks the laptop version of "Dead man walking"? Well, it's a disconnect if you like ultrabooks for what they were originally promised to have: small-scale portability. Taking the thin splendor of a brilliantly executed 13-incher...

Beautiful, sleek design and a razor-thin all-metal body make the 15-inch Samsung Series 9 the most stunning and portable larger-screen laptop we've seen; the keyboard and big, bright screen are great, too.

A lack of higher-end features, such as an optical drive, and the dongle-requiring Ethernet and HDMI ports mean that this larger Series 9 isn't all that much different under the hood from its tinier 13-inch sibling. Also, it only has 128GB of SSD...

The latest Samsung Series 9 goes extra-big, and the gamble pays off with the most portable and comfortable 15-incher you're likely to find. However, its high price and lack of higher-end features don't make it the best value.

Review Samsung Series 9 900X4B-A01DE Notebook

Premium slim case. Amidst Samsung's Series 9 refresh, there is no

High-end aluminum unibody; Chassis' workmanship and feel; Up-to-date connectivity; Components' easy maintenance; Pleasant input devices; Screen's matte surface and HD+; Good multimedia performance; Samsung's fast mSATA SSD; Emissions in idle; Available...

Slim scope of delivery; Keyboard light fairly weak; Weak screen measuring data; No Turbo Boost 2.0 on battery or stress test; Load noise and temperature; Poor stereo speakers

That the cooling system has not been modified much. We would have appreciated a more quiet and efficient solution. Perhaps the Ivy Bridge update will supply new findings.

Samsung Series 9 (2012; NP900X4B)

Ultrabooks are definitely not anything new. However, Samsung hopes to do better than the rest with their updated 2012 model of the Series 9 laptop, which comes in either 13.3- or 15-inch models. We reviewed the 15-inch one and were amazed by its...

Wish it performed as-designed

If it performed as-designed, I would recommend it.

Light, thin, portable

The keyboard backlight on my device does not function correctly, I believe the ambient light sensor is not functioning. Sometimes the backlight is on in full light and other times not. I can use it in bed at night with no ambient light and the...
