Acer Aspire E1 review

A budget laptop with some maddening flaws

Affordable ; Attractive design ; Great keyboard ; HDMI-out and 3 USBs

Poor touchpad & button ; Too heavy ; Filled with bloatware ; Mediocre battery life

Scores in depth These days, buying a budget laptop doesn't always mean compromising everything you need from a computer. For this notebook, unfortunately, compromise rears its ugly head. Acer's Aspire E1-472G-6844, priced at $599.99 (about £350,...

Acer Aspire E1 review

A 15.6in laptop for only £350? The Acer Aspire E1 promises all the essentials at a bargain price. Here's our Acer Aspire E1 review.

You don’t expect perfection for £350, but the Acer Aspire E1 puts in a good all-round performance for the money. The specification is generous, the performance ample and – at this price – it’s easy to forgive the mediocre battery life.

Acer Aspire E1 review

The Aspire E1 may be inexpensive, but Acer sacrificed a lot to cram powerful hardware into a laptop that sells below $600.

The Acer Aspire E1 may have some of the latest hardware from Intel and Nvidia, but it remains a laptop that’s rooted in the past. A lackluster display, poor battery life and a thick, bulky chassis make the E1 feel as if it was designed a few years ago....

Acer Aspire E1-572-6870

The Acer Aspire E1-572-6870 is a laptop for the budget-minded power user.

Fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor. Full numeric keypad. Six hours of battery life. Removable battery. HDMI and VGA.

Lots of pre-loaded programs. Only 1,366 by 768 resolution (Display is limited to 1,366 by 768 resolution). Could use more USB 3.0 ports. Some screen-door effect on display. No touch screen.

And there's the rub: The Aspire E1-572-6870 is one of those systems that skirts the mainstream and the budget categories, and at this price or higher you really want a touch screen. With a list price of $580, the Aspire E1-572-6870 is $200 more than...

Well built and lighter than my previous laptop and faster too.

Get time to know how to use Windows 8.1 Problem of compatibility with encrypted pre-loaded Norton and Mcafee antiviruses with my own one. This seems to have created Faults bucket Error systems

Although reconditioned the laptop was "as new" in condition.

Battery life appears poor and not holding charge as I thought it would.

Acer Aspire E1-570p NX.MFSEK.001

Having a touch screen when running windows 8 is crucial, and the Acer Aspire's touch screen is very responsive and accurate. The touch screen also makes other tasks a pleasure to do. The Aspire E1-572p is very powerful with the i5 processor. Fast sleek...

The only bad point I've found so far is windows 8. The app screen is a good idea like tablets'; overall, 8 is not good. The Aspire E1-572p is too good for windows 8. Only has 4Gb memory. i5 on windows 8 should have 6 - 8Gb min.
