Acer Aspire AS3830TG-6431

The Acer AS3830TG-6431 is one of the most powerful ultraportables on the market, even though it's far from being the lightest.

Good processing and graphics performance. Heavenly battery life. Affordable. USB 3.0 port included.

Hefty compared to competing models. Battery not removable by traditional methods.

Review Acer Aspire 3830TG (i7/SSD) Subnotebook

Throttling reloaded. If the Core i5 already moaned as a consequen

Adequate scope of interfaces; Generous keyboard; Fan partly inactive in idle; Very good battery life; Low power consumption operation; Very good gaming performance in 13.3 inches

CPU throttling down to 1.2 GHz; Port positioning; High-gloss screen; Poor display rates; Permanently built-in 6 cell battery

The CPU throttling isn't eliminated, but has rather been reissued. Thus, customers buy an expensive i7 version of the Aspire 3830TG, but still don't have i7 performance.

Acer 3830TG review – the new generation 13.3 incher

Acer is out with a new line of TimelineX laptops, one of them being the 13.3 inch 3830TG, a subnotebook as they're called these days. It's a try to cover the need for a small laptop, which is closer...

The Acer 3830TG is a decently built machine, that learned from the mistakes of its predecessor (at least when it comes to the keyboard) and also added some very decent hardware. Also, it has a good video card that allows for some smooth gaming and HD...

Aspire 3830TG-6431 running Ubuntu Linux

I expect that the sound problem will eventually be fixed. I'm not optimistic about seeing a seamless solution to the Powersmart/Optimus problem. Still, I can usually find a power outlet. For Linux users there are probably better laptops out there...

fast, responsive keyboard, reasonable mouse pad, sharp display, thin and light, nifty looks, Cuda for scientists, runs at 800 MHz most of the time - so it is relatively cool

Running Ubuntu 11.04, there is no sound. This is an already reported bug but as of 8/30/2011 no one has been assigned to fix it afaik. Powersmart is not available on Linux, so the battery provides for only three hours. NVidia Optimus does not work,...

Perfect for the money!

It's not a desktop replacement as I think some people want it to be. it is an "ultra portable". I went from an XPS 16 to this laptop. It's so much lighter and very fast. I upgraded to an SSD and 8GB of Ram the day I got it.

700. Small. Can play games. Fast. Awesome battery life ; It's awesome for the price when you compare it to what else is out there. It's one of the more high end mobile gaming cards and it plays everything I want. Great boot times and crazy light...

Nothing I did not expect from a 13 inch laptop. The keyboard flex I read about is not even noticeable for me

gaming requires cooling

Other reviewers have stated the case seems flimsy and flexible but I do not find that to be an issue. The laptop is solid enough for regular use. non removable battery - I dont necessarily consider this a con but I do intend on replacing/upgrading the...

Graphics - Can run all current titles with adequate graphics settings; will be able to run future titles on low/med settings. Runs Starcraft 2 @ 1080p on my external monitor with med/high settings ; Very Portable - For a laptop that can run games and...

Cooling - Honestly I personally have not had a problem keeping the laptop cool but that because its sitting on my desk on a cooling pad. Also I bring the cooling pad with me when I take it other places ; Its totally possible to use this laptop casually...
