Asus U6V-2P001E 12.1in Centrino 2 Notebook

A fairly classy ultra-portable with a few annoyances but stuffed with features, for those who can afford it.

Asus U6V review

If you're looking for a speedy ultraportable laptop without breaking the bank, look no further than the Asus U6V-A1. This Windows Vista Business-based notebook offers up strong performance scores and is a nicely balanced overall system.

All in all, the Asus U6V-A1 is not a bad notebook. For media, its weak speakers prevent it from being a great choice, but if you want a compact notebook that can handle everyday tasks and maybe some light gaming, the U6V makes for a fairly attractive...

Asus U6V review

Asus's U6V is the Centrino 2 version of the U6 ultra-portable laptop. Like the previous models, it's good looking with a tough chassis.

Asus - U6V Bamboo

When choosing a notebook computer some people put store on comparing how different machines look. Usually the choices here boil down to selecting between colour schemes, rounded versus non-rounded corners, how the status lights are implemented ...

If you want a notebook that looks very different and claims to have some extra environmental credentials, the U6V Bamboo might tick the boxes for you.

Asus Bamboo U6V

The Asus' new Bamboo Laptop is quite literally as its name suggests is one of the world's first laptops made with an element of nature, instead of the shiny plastic normally used on laptop cases, this latest notebook is presented with laminated bamboo...

Before even considering the features this laptop has, one must first appreciate the attractive and totally unique piece of art that is the encasing of the new Asus notebook. With no two covers the same; it is crafted with both consideration and...

However, at over £1013 - it may be a little bit too much for some. The specifications may be good - but during the credit crunch, we'd expect more people to go for a Lenovo or a Vaio - for the same price or less - and for that reason, it only gets 2

ASUS U6 Bamboo (U6V-2P048G)

Wooden construction, but plenty of personality

Bamboo panels, built-in optical drive, portable size

Sluggish hard drive, touchpad buttons still need refining, screen has a narrow vertical viewing angle, no FireWire

The wooden panels on the Bamboo actually look good, and its guts are also impressive. It's not a laptop for everyone; it's mostly for people who want to make an impression, and anyone who just really loves wood.
