A gaming laptop whose strengths don't make up for its weaknesses

Stunning 1080p screen ; Great battery ; Lovely RGB keyboard

The Asus Rog Strix G503 fails to set itself apart from the crowd of entry-level gaming laptops in any meaningful way, from price to power, despite strong battery life and a beautiful screen.

ASUS ROG Strix GL503VD 15.6″ Gaming Notebook

The Asus ROG Strix GL503VD is an attractive laptop with its brushed metal lid, RGB keyboard and comp It's only £800 and has a Quad core i5, GTX 1050 and 8GB RAM. But is it any good for 1080p gaming?

ASUS ROG Strix GL503 review - The Scar and Hero editions

With the new ROG Strix GL503, ASUS is switching things up a little with its mid-range line of gaming notebooks. The ROG GL503 Hero and Scar editions are really two of the same, well somewhat, notebooks targeted at MOBA and FPS gamers respectively.

The ROG Strix Hero is more a dependable sidekick

This Hero's marketing may be what's "optimized" for MOBA, but it's still a solid all-around gaming laptop.

Solid performance for its specs, a snazzy but not flashy design and a really good keyboard for both gaming and not-gaming are the highlights of the Asus ROG Strix Hero Edition.

The battery life. Oy.

A likeable general-purpose gaming laptop that can handle work and play equally well, as long as you don't need to run off the battery for more than 2.5 hours.
