HP Spectre x360 15 (2018) review

This powerful 2-in-1 just about does it all

Crisp display ; Long battery life ; Fast biometrics

A little on the heavy side ; Touchpad is finicky

If you’re looking for a device that can last all day, is powerful enough for casual gaming and doesn’t cost a future, then the Spectre x360 15 is worth considering.

HP Spectre x360 15 review

Watch out, Apple, the MacBook Pro has a new challenger

Flawless keyboard ; Spectacular design ; Comes with stylus

Less-than-stellar battery life ; Trackpad gets in the way of typing

Although the battery life falls short, the HP Spectre x360 packs heat when it comes to power, versatility and a stunning design that’s certain to incite compliments.

The HP Spectre x360 15-ch000na is a high-end convertible laptop with a high price to match. It's packed to the brim with features and the latest internal components, but will that add up to a laptop that's worth the money? Our full review gets to the...

HP Spectre x360 15-inch (2018) review

The muscular HP Spectre x360 15-inch can't handle a marathon.

Conventional but attractive design ; Great keyboard ; Excellent processor performance ; Fast enough for most games

Too thick and heavy for tablet use ; Mediocre 4K screen ; Disappointing battery life

The base HP Spectre x360 15-inch starts at $1,370. Our review unit, with Intel Core i7-8705G, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB solid state drive, is $1,720 (currently on sale for $1,620). A lot of money, to be sure, but not unusual for a flagship laptop. The...

HP Spectre x360 15 review

HP's latest premium 2-in-1 has lots of power, but is far from perfect.

Fast performance, even for some gaming ; Bright 4K display ; Included stylus

It’s a hefty handful ; Awkward touchpad placement and keyboard ; Battery life not the best

HP has some work to do with its approach to touchpads and keyboards on its consumer laptops. This is especially true if an upgraded machine like this unit is supposed to appeal to a user base that otherwise would flock to a Surface Book or a Macbook Pro.

HP Spectre x360 15 (Kaby Lake-R) review: A solid 4K 2-in-1 overshadowed by its beefier sibling

The 2-in-1 HP Spectre x360 15 gets a welcome performance bump, a 4K display and more, but we can't help but cast an envious eye toward the speedier Kaby Lake-G version.

Solid, sturdy construction ; Roomy keyboard with dedicated numeric keypad ; Great battery life ; Discrete GeForce MX150 graphics

Relatively thick and heavy ; Middling 8th-generation performance ; Thoroughly outperformed by its Kaby Lake-G sibling

The HP Spectre x360 serves up a mixed bag of ports, starting on the left with a single USB 3.1 Type A port, a barrel-shaped port for a standard AC charger, a combo audio jack and an SD card reader. The Spectre’s power button sits between the charging...

HP Spectre x360 15 (2018)

Although it's hefty and unwieldy in Tablet mode, the HP Spectre x360 15's thoughtful design and top-notch performance make it an excellent 15-inch convertible laptop.

Good port selection. Comfortable keyboard. Bright 4K display. Excellent battery life. Included leather case.

Finicky touchpad. Heavy.

Bottom Line: Although it's hefty and unwieldy in Tablet mode, the HP Spectre x360 15's thoughtful design and top-notch performance make it an excellent 15-inch convertible laptop.

HP Spectre x360 15 review: With Kaby Lake-G, this laptop can do almost anything

HP's Spectre x360 15 sets a new performance bar for mainstream laptops, thanks to its Kaby Lake-G CPU. See what this marriage with Radeon RX Vega can do in our review.

A convertible powerhouse with few compromises ; Relatively good battery life for its power demands and configuration

A little heavy compared to the competition ; 4K screen could be a little brighter

There’s two conclusions to be made here. The first is the HP Spectre x360 15 itself. The high-end laptop has been around for two years now, but it took Intel’s Kaby Lake-G to make it sing, delivering plenty of performance to go with the looks.
