Lenovo ThinkPad T420s review

A powerful and versatile laptop, but poor battery life and business-specific graphics mean it should only appeal to professionals

Lenovo ThinkPad T420 review: Lenovo ThinkPad T420

The ThinkPad T420 has several things going for it: performance, plenty of ports, excellent battery life, and a very comfortable keyboard.

The design of the bulky, business-oriented T420 is positively Stone Age. It's also priced well above similar consumer laptops. No HDMI, no USB 3.0.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T420 is as straight-up and unassuming as a business laptop can be on the surface, souped up with faster performance, long battery life, and a flexible selection of ports under the hood.

Lenovo ThinkPad T420s

The Lenovo ThinkPad T420s is hands down the lightest and most well-equipped 14-inch business laptop on the market.

One of the lightest 14-inch business laptops. 1-inch thick with optical drive. Optical drive can be substituted with an additional battery. High screen resolution. Tough as nails. Phenomenal typing experience. Excellent battery life. Speedy.

A backlit-keyboard would be nice.

Lenovo Thinkpad T420s

The full size keyboard is what keeps Lenovo customers coming back year after year. It's a traditional-looking keyboard and arguably the best one in the business, despite so many other laptops moving to a chiclet-style keyboard. Dual pointing devices...

The Lenovo ThinkPad T420s is an amazing device when you realize that its power, feature set, and battery yields are usually found in much heavier laptops.

Review Lenovo ThinkPad T420s 4174-PEG Notebook

Business class. The ThinkPad T420s is mainly to convince business customers of its advantages as a powerful and yet portable companion. Equipped with a Core i7-2640M and a fast SSD from Intel as well as built-in UMTS, Lenovo has created good...

Good manufacturing quality and case stability, Great connectivity, High-end inputs, Matt screen surface, SSD, Optimus support, Fast, light, perfectly equipped - that's how we like the business sector

Contrast weak screen with high viewing angle dependency, Very high temperature in full load, High price, Dear Lenovo, a fine-tuning of the fan management doesn't have anything to do with witchcraft

Lenovo ThinkPad T420s - mini review

Last year I bought the ThinkPad T410s when the model with the Optimus graphics became available. It's a great little machine so I was anxious to try the ThinkPad T420s with Optimus and compare the two. I've done that now and I thought you would be...

For most people the big brother T420 is a better fit. The T420 adds IEEE 1394 Firewire, eSATA, standard sized bays, longer battery life, etc. The T420 is a little heavier and thicker but I think it offers the best combination of features. If you...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Good used product. Easy to set- up & install.

I would buy it again but consider to spent more money for cleaning it. This notebook was for me, so I am more or less fine, but if I buy for employees I would have to raise the bar.

You get what you paid for. You know that you are not buying a new product. Performance is good.

Again, it's used. But I'd prefer to have it cleaned a little bit the next time I buy. I am not saying that I expect a sanitized notebook, but there was still hair. An air blower helps...
