Samsung Series 5 NP540U3C

A smart, affordable 13-inch touchscreen ultrabook. What could be better?

Smart design and decent build quality, Outstanding keyboard, Cool & quiet

Screen very reflective, Iffy horizontal and vertical viewing angles, Touchscreen not that useful, Large premium for touchscreen

Samsung Series 5 Ultra Touch review

The total Ultrabook package?

Good performance ; Responsive touchscreen ; Good usability ; Good image quality

Battery life ; Screen resolution could be better ; Some flex in lid

The Series 5 Ultra Touch feels like it could be a world-class laptop a lot of the time, but the rough edges mean that it ultimately falls short. It's still a solid option for home use, but it's not the one Ultrabook to rule them all that it could've been.

Samsung NP540U3C-A01UK review

The Samsung NP540U3C is a small, stylish ultrabook that ships with Windows 8. Part of Samsung's Series 5 range, it's worth diving in straight away to discuss one of its main attraction, a touchscreen.

Balancing portability with power, the 13.3in Samsung NP540U3C-A01UK is a solid ultrabook that’s flexible enough for home use or on the road. Suitable for media playback and productivity, the price isn’t too bad either.

Samsung Series 5 Ultra Touch - The First Windows 8 Touchscreen Ultrabook

The 13.3-inch Samsung Series 5 Ultra Touch is the first Ultrabook to be released with a multi-touch-enabled screen and Windows 8 Pro OS pre-installed. How does the Windows 8 Modern UI fare on a traditional clamshell notebook form-factor? We find out.

Great battery life; Touchscreen; Good keyboard

Heavier than most 13.3-inch Ultrabooks; Touchscreen not ideal with clamshell form factor; No clickpad

Samsung Series 5 UltraTouch review: a solid, if slightly overpriced, mid-range Ultrabook

The Series 5 UltraTouch is a solid mid-range Windows 8 Ultrabook, with decent battery life, a responsive touchscreen and a tasteful design. If you wanted, though, you could get the same specs for less money.

Decent battery life for a touch system ; Attractive design ; Narrow bezels, responsive touchscreen ; Comfortable keyboard

Some touchpad issues ; Heavy, even for a touchscreen Ultrabook ; Other laptops offer the same or better specs for less money

It'll be easier for us to name the best mid-range Ultrabook once we've tested a few more, but for now we can confidently say the Series 5 UltraTouch offers a comfortable typing experience, attractive design and battery life that isn't great , per se,...

Samsung Series 5 UltraTouch review:

Windows 8 touch-screen laptops to date have largely fallen into two categories -- really high-end systems, from $1,200 to $1,600 or more, with slim, sexy designs; or else entry-level models that cram in a touch screen, but at the expense of design,...

With a slim, sturdy design and a powerful mainstream CPU, the touch-enabled Samsung Series 5 UltraTouch is a great sub-$900 13-inch Windows 8 machine.

Good thing it has a touch screen, because the touch pad is a bit jumpy. Performance is slower than that of similar Core i5 laptops.

Samsung's midprice Series 5 UltraTouch looks and feels like a more expensive machine, but keeps it simple by skipping the complex hybrid mechanics of so many new Windows 8 systems.

Review Samsung 540U3C Ultrabook

That special touch. The Samsung Series 5 540U3C is the successor

Good mobility; Lightweight and compact dimensions; Bright touchscreen; Operating elements; Maintenance-friendly

Display hinges; Contrast and black values

The Samsung 540U3C has its own predecessor, the Samsung 530U3C, to compete with. But since the current price of the latter lies only about 70 Euros (~$91) beneath the new version, the pros of this review device prevail, for example the SSD and the...
