It's sleek and speedy, but has Sony released something exciting?

Nice design ; Waterproof ; Remote play is good ; Cheaper than competition ; No more flap over USB

Gets hot ; Disappointing camera ; Bloatware ; Frustrating battery life ; Doesn't have a wow factor

The Xperia Z3+ plays it a little too safe to vault above its competitors. It's a fine phone in its own right and has lots of promising features, but when compared with the latest flagships, it just doesn't cut it.

Sony has been moulding its Xperia Z-series flagship smartphone line into the perfect model. Well, it more-or-less achieved that with the Z3 towards the end of 2014, so for the new Z3+ to arrive mid-2015 led us to believe we'd be getting more hot stuff....

Decent 5.2-in screen, slender build, waterproof and dustproof, generally smooth software experience

Sony Xperia Z3+ review: Luxury design spoiled by overheating issues

The Sony Xperia Z3+ has looks to kill for, but it suffers from a serious overheating problem, poor battery life and software quirks.

The Sony Xperia Z3+ has a gorgeous minimalist design, a vivid screen and its waterproofing means it won't shut down the first time it gets dropped in the toilet.

It suffers from a worrying overheating issue, the battery life doesn't impress and the camera software is awkward to use.

While the Sony Xperia Z3+ is a great-looking bit of kit, its mediocre battery life, software quirks and of course its serious overheating issue makes it one to avoid.
