Before the iPhone was Apple's bread and butter, there was the iPod.
The Apple iPod Shuffle is affordably priced with a compact design and long-lasting battery. It's both stylish and easily wearable, thanks to its sturdy built-in clip.
Requires a USB sync from a PC or Mac running iTunes. There's no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Only 2GB of storage. Navigating your music is a bit difficult without a screen. You can't download subscription Apple Music songs.
Apple's most affordable iPod is a cheap, workout-friendly option for listening to music or podcasts, but it shows its age with a reliance on iTunes syncing and lack of wireless support.

Apple's iPod shuffle has returned to its roots: unlike the third-generation iPod shuffle, there are physical playback controls on the MP3 player itself.
Apple's fourth-generation iPod Shuffle is a sleek and easy-to-use device, largely thanks to the return of the controls offered by the first- and second-generation Shuffles. The VoiceOver feature is also a big winner.

The minimalist third-generation Apple iPod shuffle has innovative text-to-voice technology, but the controls take some getting used to.

When Apple refreshed its iPod range for Christmas 2006, surprises were sorely lacking: the big iPod was given more disk space and battery life (sarcastic whoops), while the Nano was reborn as a smaller iPod Mini (silence). But one product – the...

The iPod Shuffle has been getting smaller and more minimalist with each iteration, at least until the latest model. You'll now find a set of control buttons on the device itself (again), but has it made for a better device? The good The additional...
A stylish, well made and incredibly small music player, you'll like the iPod Shuffle if you're after a bargain MP3 player for your daily workout. If you want an extra bit of control or more storage, however, it's worth looking at the new iPod Nano....

Undeniably sexy for something so small, but having to use Apple's dedicated earbuds knocks this down a peg or two.
Minuscule proportions. Clever "talking" interface
Average sound. Poor, now-irreplaceable, headphones

If you're looking strictly for an audio player that doesn't take up a lot of space, the third-generation iPod shuffle is ideal. But if you're unwilling to drop sixty quid for a feature-scarce MP3 player, you might want to consider some less expensive...

Apple iPod Shuffle is the smallest digital audio player and considered as the budget model of Apple's line of iPods. It makes use of the tagline 'life is random' and weighs a mere 15 grams or 0.55 oz, and makes use of flash memory. Some iPod Shuffles...
The ever-so shiny Shuffle sings loud and proud from its tiny aluminium shell. Count your pennies – this is the best mini music player pocket-money can buy. Apple iPod Shuffle is tagged with Apple and iPod. Select a tag (Apple, for example) to find...

There are loads of good reviews out there on the new Shuffle, so I won't repeat what you may have read elsewhere. My main objectives were to see how well such a small MP3 player could perform, and secondly, would it work on Ubuntu Edgy 6.10. Overall a...
